  • Morning everyone

As last week was rather poor I thought perhaps posting a list of areas which I would like to sort and clear this week might help.

    1. Take photos of items ready to be listed
    2. List them!
    3. Take the items already bagged to the CS
    4. Go through and tidy wardrobes and chests of drawers, get rid of the kids clothes which are too small, check our stuff and dispose of any no longer worn/needed.
    [STRIKE]5. Clear kitchen worktops (again!)[/STRIKE]

I think that's enough aims for this week given I still feel the same as last week, but we shall see.

    Happy sorting everyone, keep warm.

    AFB

    Quick update

Worktops cleared (for a day or two anyway!)
    Some more items now sold
Some items given to a new home

Happy with that considering it's soooo cold and I just want to stay under the cosy blanket and read/surf.

    Onwards and declutterwards.

Went to visit DS yesterday and took the big box of drinks glasses, desk fan and pedestal fan, that we got for him from MIL, along with a tub of twiglets and some breadsticks which were left over from Christmas. He got me a lovely plant, a shower gel/body lotion set and a tin of biscuits for Mother's day and a lovely card, so they have all come in, but obviously these are not clutter.

Today I did loads of washing, hoovered downstairs, cleared all the newspapers and junk mail and did a pile of shredding, which is now in the green waste bin, along with a huge cardboard box, which I emptied over the weekend and was too tatty to be re-used, and put another box into the shed for when we have a clear out in there. I started going through some of my vinyl records this afternoon, and got 3 for CS, and a few others that I only really like a few tracks on, so I will put them on my USB turntable to convert them to mp3 before I get rid of them. I've only got another 200 or so to go through, and that's without the singles, lol!

This evening we received a double bed from freecycle, which we needed for our spare room, but we can't put it up at the moment, as we need to get rid of the single bed that we have in there, so both beds are currently on their sides in the spare room. It damn near killed OH and I getting the bed up the stairs, and of course the cat had to 'help' so she nearly ended up getting squashed, lol!

    Morning all :)
Today so far, wash up, decluttered emails, made my bed and cleaned the bathroom.

I started a new project yesterday with patch work. Cut up old cotton clothes. I have made a 12" square of pink triangles so far. No it is not perfect. Just a beginner as I told my adult DD.

Lots of used AA and AAA batteries have gone to be recycled @ Oh work place. He took them in as they have a disposal box. I have been collecting them for a wile.
I now have lots of rechargeable batteries and charger. Slowly The house batteries are being changed over as the run down.

Waiting for the new washing machine to be delivered so I can declutter the washing. It is a 9kg drum so I can get through the load quicker :)
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

    Decluttered today:

    3 books
    4 magazines
2012 diary (paper in recycling, wire binder in bin)
    Few bits of paperwork
    Leaflets

I started the year decluttering 10 items a day, which I kept up for 6 weeks. The house was looking much better so stopped daily decluttering. The clutter is creeping back in the lounge, will go back to 10 items a day for a week or so.

Last week we found a bag full of confetti, streamers and other party items left over from collecting extra Tesco points. The kids had a good play with some of them (took twice as long to clear up), the rest are ready to go to the charity shop. Think the rest of the cupboard they were in will be a target to declutter later this week.

    Kitchen
    • [STRIKE]clear worktops and try to keep them that way[/STRIKE] - done now!
    • get new hanging rail/hooks put up for utensils to hang up instead of cluttering worktop in container that falls over
    • source two kitchen wall units and 'speak nicely' to DS2!!!!! - have just spoken to some contractors working next-door - they've told me where they get them from - phoned up supplier - £25 each plus handles :T.
    • source 'inside door spice rack' and get fixed up.
    Bathroom
    • source Bathroom Cabinet and get put up
    • get hangng rail put up above radiator
    Bedroom 1
    • Blitz boxes that are still hanging around in there and CS/recycle wherever possible - only 2 left now!
    • assemble new bookcase and put into corner of bedroom - empty final box of books!
    Bedroom 2
    • blitz final boxes still in there till only plastic crates are left - only ONE left now!
    • make sure that books stay on bookshelves / grandkids stuff stays in storage drawers / collect up any more loose CD's/DVD's - done but difficult to keep on top of when grandkids are around.
    • get remaining 'christmas stuff' put up into loft-space - may need DS1/2 to help OH with that OR buy a step-ladder
    Entrance Porch
    • get DS1 to finally move single bed/mattress/headboard to DD - URGENT - UPDATE - can't be done till next week now :(.
    • move t/d from landing cupboard back down to the porch - might make the 'ice cave' feel a bit warmer when it's being used in the winter ;)
    • get some kind of shelf put up in porch
    Landing cupboard
    • FIRST get the TD shifted downstairs!!!!!
    • measure up AGAIN for shelves and get them installed
    • move laundry baskets into base of cupboard
    • empty and sort the final couple of boxes that are still in there. Recycle/CS where possible - 2 done but three to go!
    • [STRIKE]go through all the towels and double check which are the best for keeping.
Worst ones can go to PDSA hospital and rest can go to DD - kids keep losing
towels when they go swimming [/STRIKE] - done!
    Outdoor Lock-up
    • clear everything out and brush out any bits/debris - done and all nice and tidy, but no shelves in there yet!
    • assemble metal shelving and put in place - SECURE to rear wall!
    • [STRIKE]sort out a storage crate for small gardening tools[/STRIKE] - done!
    • put large toolbox onto base shelf of shelving unit to stabilise it
    • get hanging hook system for storing garden spade/rake etc
    Garden
    • contact Housing Association to find out when I can expect the contractors to sort out my garden - it's STILL completely inaccessible due to bramble bushes and Heaven alone knows what else. I'm convinced that we'll find Lord Lucan riding Shergar in there somewhere :)! I'm going to take 'before and after photos' as evidence. - Update 12.3.13- Garden Inspector due any minute!!!!!
    • remind them that I need proper use of my clothesline and that their tardiness is costing me money as I have to use my t/d
I'll try to keep track of my progress using this list - see if that can give me proper motivation .....

I've tackled some more boxes this morning - now left with only 2 large/3medium cardboard ones - but lots of small boxes/baskets that 'bits of stuff' got chucked into in the last few minutes of clearing rooms when moving. Stuff that 'helpers' didn't know what to do with :o.

Do I just dump? ............ or give in to temptation, go through them all to 'sort out' and risk telling myself 'THAT'LL come in handy one day!' Decisions, decisions ............................

.............. even found my spare specs :j:T!

I'm feeling quite postive today - can finally 'breathe deeply' without coughing/choking/spluttering all over everybody:jPLUS the sun is shining Small-animated-flashing-sunshine-icon.gif!

Hope everybody else is having a good day - speak again later - Lilyplonk xxx

  • Evening everybody

You have all been busy today.

I have managed to get some stuff sorted and photographed ready to list plus listed some bits too.

Sorted tea and some washing but that's going to be all until I declutter myself to bed in a bit!

    Keep up the good work.
