Sorry Guys I've not kept up with the thread in the last few days as it's been very stressful here!
    ......
Oh, if I wanted to change my forum name how would/could I do it? x
I can't see how to do change your forum name so I think you would have to email MSE - I am sure that if you explain the situation they will help.

I have been focusing on decluttering my office the last couple of weeks and I have been surprised by the number of people who have noticed and commented on the difference. There is a way to go yet but it looks miles better already.

Even if I just focus on my desk I now have one pile of paperwork that i am working my way through and loads of bare space that virtually everyone has commented on (mostly with the witty "I can see wood on your desk!" :o)

I think that I have ditched or filed about 20 inches high of paperwork from my desk plus various other magazines etc.

    Yay me!

    D x

    Morning all

Everyone is doing really well , decluttering and sending unloved things to new homes.
Some people find it really hard to part with things and come out with all sorts of silly excuses why we need to hoard.
I am definitely a !!!!!! wile Oh is a hoarder and grumbles a lot.

My house is beginning to look really tidy and visitor friendly.

Yesterday I change round the furniture in the dinning/family room. Cleaned away the dust under where the furniture was and mopped laminate floor.
In the afternoon I sorted out the insulated picnic bags. I have a collection. Most were gained for free. I tossed x2 and put the smaller ones in a clear plastic bag.
x2, I now have with my collection of shopping bags for the supermarket. For fresh and frozen food.

Todo list = get dressed, make my bed and then put washing on line.
Lunch time, I am going to the dentist for a check up. Bet I end up paying £48 when done for the middle NHS charge.

Yep, just got back. £3.10 for the bus and dentist = x ray on tooth, temp. patch and filling next week £48.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

Morning everybody  - what a miserable grey, drizzly day we've got :(.

Hope things are a bit better with the rest of you ..................

I've had a really busy week with no major decluttering going on at all - shame on me! However, I've managed to keep on top of the recycling, food waste and rubbish going out everyday - sometimes twice a day with recycling as I use a fabric shopping bag hanging up on the kitchen radiator to collect it in.

There's been a quick tidy up of the Living Room each morning, to keep the 'hot spots' (coffee table / fruit bowl / PC desk) clear of junk. Then straighten up the throws and cushions on the sofas and the place immediately looks much better :j.

Junk mail etc is being dealt with as quickly as it comes through the letterbox - doesn't even make it up the stairs to the flat. It's straight back out-the-door and into the 'grey recycling bin'. We don't buy newspapers, but I need to stop OH from bringing in the Metro each day. Why can't he just read it on the bus and then leave it for the next passenger .......... ;).

I have to admit to bringing in 2 items from CS yesterday :( - a dvd of Julia Bradbury's Canal Walks for 50p :j - because it included The Caledonian Canal; and an OXO Cookbook bought for DD (another 50p) - it looks like a 'good, sensible recipe book' with no-nonsense/non-faffing ideas in it :T!

Unfortunately, I then went into ASDA and they had their clothes sale on - oh dear. I DID succumb - three tops and a long-sleeve thermal top ALL at half-price. At the moment, they're hiding behind the freezer in the porch - where OH can't see them. When he's gone out, they'll graduate into my wardrobe, disguised in between the rest of my things :o:(:o.

I've also sent for an outfit (from the catalogue) this week for my son's wedding in August. Personally, I think I did rather well. It's a long dress with matching jacket - very elegant outfit - don't want to 'let our side down'. It was reduced in the End of Season Sale and then one of the operators rang me on Saturday, offering an extra 20%discount for Mothers' Day Weekend :T! I've already got some gorgeous Pewter coloured sandals - never worn - that are ideal with it. Just need a clutch bag to match in now .............. DSis has got one that she used for her daughter's wedding last year :j.

That's it for me for now - getting ready to go to the gym - need to work hard to look fabulous for that frock ;)

Have a good day everybody - will check back in again later - luv Lilyplonk xxx

    morning all
hope you dont mind me popping in again

have sorted out some embrodery threads i wont use so am gifting them to my dental receptionists DD as she mentioned she enjoys cross stitch but hasnt many colours so saves her pocket money for them. A bag of 25 unused ones should help her out and i wont miss them.

decluttered the sides of a tall book case out of the attic last night we thought the rest was up there so were bringing it down to use. seems pointless having just the sides and they are MDF not real wood so not any real use elsewhere

Hello Mrs Moneypenny - I meant to say 'Hi and Welcome' to you in my earlier post :hello:.

Always good to see new posters and read about their progress on here :D.

Best of luck with your decluttering - wd :A on re-gifting your embroidery threads to somebody learning a new craft. Keeps the old crafts progressing down the generations :). Mine are currently sitting in an old, hard-sided picnic box (that lost its insulated lining years ago) that just about holds all my frames etc. I DO intend to get back into it - though it may be later in the year. Would be something nice and lazy to tackle WHEN I can finally get around to sitting in my garden in the summer ;).

Just catching up on the thread for the first time in a few days.

MrsG - big hugs to you. I hope it works out for the best x
  • Evening everyone

Well I've not managed to complete my list of things for this week, struggling to cope with life stuff so my tablets have been increased and I'm back to feeling weird until I adjust to them again.

Hopefully next week will be a bit more productive.

    Have a good weekend all

I had another sort out in the 'cupboard of doom', and found another 14 recordable videos to go with the others which were offered on freecycle (unfortunately nobody has yet asked for these, so they may end up going to the dump), a bag of old greeting cards which have now gone to recycling, 3 skirts (CS), 2 books (CS), 3 knitting patterns (CS), and 4 clothes hangers which I've given to my dad. I also put the bag containing my decorating clothes into the shed.

The single bed was collected, and we put the new (to us) double bed up in the spare room. It was quite funny putting the headboard on, as there wasn't much room behind the bed, so OH tried putting it on while laying on the bed and hanging over the end, but realised he couldn't do that as his head was under the headboard and it would be like a guillotine when we pushed it down, so I had to squeeze behind the bed and kneel down to fit the bolts, then I didn't have enough room to turn around to do the other side, lol! I really must lose some weight, lol!

Today I went through some of the ebay boxes and put some bits in CS box, as when I checked they don't seem to be selling, so in CS box:-

    31 CD singles
    3 videos
    4 PS1 games
    2 CDs

I also found 3 PS1 memory cards so they are now listed on ebay, and 1 already has a bid, also got a bid on 1 other item (big box PC game), and watchers on a couple of other bits that finish over the weekend.
