Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Afternoon all
Today, I have watched the x2 quilting shows on create and craft tv for inspiration. 8am & 11am.
Went mad and ordered the mat and cutter. Online and using Quidco.
I began my new hobby yesterday of patchwork using cotton clothing from my wardrobe, I no longer need.
I used 4 diffrent coloured pieces of cotton material to make my design. I made a large bag from another old t.shirt and sewed my patchwork on the front.
The new bag now holds my 12 bra's in the drawer. A lot of bra's. In summer when I ware a summer top, I like to match if possible the bra strap to the same colour top.
Has anyone else had the problem of clothes going down the back of drawers and being forgotten about? Problem solved with my new patchwork bag.
If you are not a crafter you could use an old pillow case?
Decluttering = sorted out my bracelets. Some had elastic stretched. 1 even broke. binned 5.
Emptied my paper recycle bin to the one outside.
In the bathroom family are using the freebie tooth paste I have.
Colgate max white and Sensodyne. No need to keep them.
Oh decluttered some cooked fish I had in the fridge for breakfast. No one seemed to wantI said it was a shame we did not have a cat. I do not want to try the dog on fish. Do dogs eat fish?
New task = I want to have a sort out of my stud earrings and put on a piece of card. I can see what I have then. What does every one do to display their earrings? I have seen photo's of ladies attaching them to their lampshade. My lamp shade is metal, so I cannot do that. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
house is a complete state
had some work don which was mainly destruction so there's lots to take away to the recycling centre and I can't afford to have the construction bits done until next month at least so there's lots of timber and stuff around.
have been poorly this week which hasn't helped as the basics have slipped.
but did try to start again yesterday:
hung 5 pictures on wall
threw away 2 candle tins that I was "keeping to make new candles with" pfft!
added dates to calendar and recycled letters from school straight away
last week's washing away - before starting on the mountain for this weekend.
some timber into the front garden to be transferred to car
2 bags of clothes/fabric/old board games from the now removed cupboard under the stairs ready to go to cs.
this hasn't made a dent tbh, but i'm glad I started on this thread at the beginning of the year because although the surface of the house is a tip, I can open any kitchen cupboard and it's organised and clutter free:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Since moving house last summer, I've not had as much stuff to de-clutter (not making that mistake again!). However, I was off work last week so did a cheeky trip to the tip with some old bedding and clothes my son has out grown. Also, some cardboard and an old quilt.
eta: One ebay parcel ready for the post office tomorrow too.Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -

:T Well done for all your efforts this weekend.
I am back at home again and this is what I have done today:
* Cleaned the bathroom, bathroom window and the shelf. One conditioner thrown away after the nearly empty packing split.
* Cleaned the mirrors and dusted the Television.
* Hoovered down stairs
* Finally, cleaned and decluttered the living room table
* Also, I have unpacked the bag and put everything away that I took away with me for the party last night.
Now off to sort through my receipts in my purse. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Here's what I've done this week
149 1970’s Typewriter - eBay
150 Another stack of paperwork - recycling
151 More old membership cards - bin
152 Heart shaped paperweight - eBay
153 Leaflet from 1981 – eBay
154 Autographed photo of a minor celeb – eBay
154 Travel guide to Belgium – eBay
155 Lots more birthday and anniversary cards –recycle
It doesn't seem much when written down, but there were large piles of paper sorted out.
Also, I'm decluttering as I go. I renewed my car tax, car insurance and MOT this week (ouch expensive!)
Previously, I would have filed the expired documents away for a few years (just in case), but this year they have all been binned/recycled straight away.

hello, I popped in here the other day to say hello and to thank you for prompting me to think about decluttering. Just here to declare that I have decluttered my room today. I've chucked away a small plastic drawer unit that had seen better days and found new homes for the things in it that I wanted to keep.
I also chucked out a few things I found in it, such as old make-up brushes, an old boots card etc. Now my table looks so much clearer, it's lovely! I've also done a spot of 'decluttering' on my Facebook friends list today
I'm definitely not done with my decluttering today though! I've got the bug now!0 -
sorry just a quick post and not had time to read everyone's latest posts.
Have another 9 items going out of the door tomorrow sold on ebay, also sticking to my rule of if it doesn't sell after 2 attempts it's going into the CS bag so there are 3 items going in the CS bag tomorrow too.
Am liking the extra cash that's coming into my bank account as a result of this decluttering lark! :money:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
90. old slow cooker lid. bin (kept just in case....why?!)
Amongst other things, I once kept the turntable from an old microwave, just in case, lol! Mind you, it did almost come in handy when my dad broke his, unfortunately it didn't fit and has now gone to CS.good_advice wrote: »Oh decluttered some cooked fish I had in the fridge for breakfast. I don't know if they do as a rule, but my mum used to put cat and dog food down for our pets, and the dog would always eat the cat food, while the cat always went for the dog food, lol!
Took the box of stuff to CS yesterday, the things I put in the other day were:-
2 unopened aftershaves which OH was never going to use
Fish knife & fork set
2 large box computer games, which have had no interest on ebay
2 PS2 games
1 xbox game
1 wii game
1 t-shirt
carrier bag full of stuff for rag bag
I have to admit that we also brought a few things into the house yesterday, as we finished cleaning and clearing the house of MIL's late partner and she gave us some drinks glasses (some we will keep, but I'm going to get rid of some our older ones to make room for them, and others I will give to DS), some cleaning products and an old typewriter which I'm going to try on ebay for her.
I took a huge bag of clean washing back to my dad's today, cleared all the paperwork from kitchen worktop, and I have bids on a couple of bits on ebay which finish later this evening.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Now inspired to make my own patchwork bag. Thanks for that!
Lots of stuff on ebay after a mad clear up last week. Finally got a mirror hung thats been hiding in the 'mess' room, along with a shelf and canvas pic.
Ever so glad I joined this thread at the beginning of the year, plodding along clearing as we go.0
