I too use this thread as a motivating tool
I have generally got into the swing of day to day decluttering.
Every day I..- fold up dry washing and take it upstairs straight away, sometimes even put it away immediately if I'm in the mood
. Never sits there for longer than a day though.
- I only ever iron what is absolutely necessary.
- Hang out the washing.
- Put away the clean dishes and wash dirty ones.
- Do a speed tidy before the school run, so that when I get home it's not too hideous. Make the beds, pick up discarded clothing , take all the bits from downstairs that aren't meant to be there back upstairs.
- Open post and recycle envelopes/leaflets/brochures etc straight away.
- Take all paperwork that is to be shredded upstairs to the 'Shredding box'
.
- Have an ongoing CS bag, so anything that needs to go there gets put straight in.
- I borrow books from library/friends/family so as not to clutter the house with them, also use my Kobo.
- Got the kids to declutter all unwanted toys and books, ready for CS.
- Sorted through my wardrobe, only kept what I wear. Sold rest on eb*y, sent to Clothes for Cash or CS. Wardrobe nice and tidy and organised now. Must stop buying more though!!
- DD does alot of drawing and colouring, so I make sure everything that isn't being kept gets recycled asap, or goes into her folder of stuff for keeping.
- I asked for more recycling boxes from our council as we were filling our existing ones to the brim every week!
- Cancelled magazine subscriptions that I no longer wanted and recycled the mags/gave them to friends.
Mortgage-free wannabe!0 - fold up dry washing and take it upstairs straight away, sometimes even put it away immediately if I'm in the mood

Aw! Page 100 = yea! That is a lot of decluttering and keeping the home tidy
My home is looking so much better than when I started. I sometimes open the doors and cupboards and look with pride. Nice and tidy, not just the over filled look. Lived in this house a long time.
Anyone watch the program last night about the cleaners v the hoarders. Some people need a lot of help.
Clutter can become overwhelming.
I have blessed my unloved items to other homes so they will be used. Binned and recycled. Even given to the CS.
I do not want to sell on ebay, but have bought the occasional item.
Every one has helped each other with posting what they are doing
WELL DONE EVERYONE!The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
So far on my weekend list of "sortings" to be done. Really enjoying the thread
My 4 year olds toys and books
[STRIKE]The top of my fridge ( a real breeding ground for my DP's items/tools)
My cleaning stuff cupboard[/STRIKE]
The inside of my fridge (lots of jars, dressings from yesteryear)
Nothing salvageable really but did find a nice box of hair dye that I will use tomorrow.
And on sorting my cleaning cupboard I have come to terms with the fact I have a bad bad bleach habit. Poor environment. Am determined to not use it so loosely in futureMFW Target Jan 2016 Sub €100k

My bedside clock said 8am. When it was really 9.30am. Oh brought me a coffee and the dog came to say good morning and have a pat.
Lucky you, I really did not want to get up this morning, but finally had to drag myself out of bed at just after 6 (I'd kept putting the alarm on snooze since it first went off at 5.45, lol!), as I had to be at work for 8.good_advice wrote: »Anyone watch the program last night about the cleaners v the hoarders. I've been watching that, and I agree some people do need a lot of help, and I don't mean just the hoarders, lol! I think the cleaners are too far the other way, I'm a little bit obsessed with cleaning products, and when certain family members are due for a visit, the house has to be cleaned to within an inch of its life, lol, but even I couldn't be doing it all day, every day, a house needs to be a home.
I recently posted that I'd emptied and recycled a few bubble bath/shower gel bottles, but I also emptied a glass bottle which I couldn't let go of as it's quite nice, so I kept it. I have now given it a good clean, as it had limescale on the outside, and I've poured some bubble bath into it, from a plain plastic bottle, which is now in recycling.
Also:-
empty deodorant - recycling
dead flowers - green waste bin
used envelopes - taken to work for internal post
I've put a few bits in CS box, which will hopefully be dropped off tomorrow, but can't remember what they were so will list them tomorrow. I have 50 items listed on ebay, only 1 has a bid but lots of watchers on other items. Unfortunately most of them are what I've listed for MIL, from her late partner's house, so they are not in my house. I really must make more of an effort to declutter this month!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Re- the glass bottle = once upon a time I had some wine decanters. I filled them with diffrent coloured Fairy washing up liquid. I thought they looked nice on the kitchen window by the sink. Till that fatal day! one of my window tiles cracked under the bottle ;(.
Now I am back to the fairy plastic bottle. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Morning all
A dry, cold day outside. Will be getting the washing on the line.
Last Night wile watching the tv in the bedroom, I had a shelf on my wardrobe out. Gave it a tidy up and put some more winter clothes to the front.
Binned a pair of jogging pants and a jumper = old.
This morning, I not only decluttered my emails and junk box. I took the time to unsubscribe, so the junk mail will hopefully not come back.

Hello everybody :hello: - another bright and beautiful day here. Beginning to see small groups of children playing out in the street - for me it's so good to see kids actually 'playing'. Where I lived - up to 9wks ago - kids only ever fought / vandalised / stole / drove up&down the street on 'souped-up' trail bikes. I've not even heard a single 'swear word' uttered in the street ..............
Well done everybody on your successes :T - there's lots getting done. I guess the sunny weather is doing us all a 'power of good' :j.
I'm really struggling with making a daily list of what I want to achieve - mostly because there's so many 'things' that can crop-up at a moment's notice. So from this weekend, I intend to come up with a 'weekly list' and strike things out as/when they get completed - may work better for me that way.
At the moment, I've acquired OH's bugs/virus - AFTER having got rid of it myself about 10days ago- so I'm now back to having a 'drippy beak'; yukky AND harsh cough and 'muggy head'. I'm sending OH out for a small bottle of whisky - already got the honey and lemons - think that some Hot Toddies are called for :rotfl:.
Going for a lie-down in a few minutes - slept on the sofa last night so I wouldn't disturb OH, but now it's MY turn for the King-Size Bed ............... - if anybody phones up for last-minute child-minding, they're out of luck!
Keep up the good work folks - and 'do a bit extra for me, please'. - love Lilyplonk xxx

Hello all, back from work thing in belfast. First time i've been - beautiful. And lovely hotel (tara lodge, very close to queens where we were working). I had porridge with whiskey for brekkie :P
After posting 20 good things before i went i'm pleased to say the declutter ways still paying off. I was very organised at all times, and unpacked my case soon as i got home last night. This morning we've done the weekly shop (essentials only, £28), walked down to the cs to drop off four bags (one i described as grown-up videos meaning ot children's ones which they no longer take - hmm maybe not quite the right wa to describe them lol), called in the opticians to make appointment, called in at boots to buy vitamins and nail clippers, then nice coffee and a natter in new coffee shop.
Home for lunch and asked oh where the new nail clippers should live, rather than just drop into closest drawer. We applied the toothbrush principle and they are now in a sensible place in the bathroom.
Am now off to declutter back bedroom and catch up on friday's corrie. Will report back laterMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Just wanted to post on here for the first time to say "thank you". I lurk every day and use this thread for motivation and it is definitely paying off. We live in a rural area, so for the past month or so when I've been popping to the big town 15 miles away, I've taken bags to cash for clothes. Only made a couple of £'s here and there, but it has gone into the sealed tin ready for Christmas spending.
Today I've decluttered another bag to C4C, plus another to a friend's house for her daughter as mine has outgrew them.
Also taken a bag full of plastic carrier bags and clothes hangers to the CS which has been sat on the back of the study door for AGES "in case I need them". They were ever so grateful.
It feels good!
DS has gone through his 3 book shelves last night and cleared a whole shelf full of "unloved/outgrown" titles. DD is upstairs doing the same as I type. Not sure what I shall do them.
I've also caught the bug for not spending on any toiletries/cleaning stuff until I've ran out. It has saved me a fortune in hair conditioner alone. I used up the last of my bottle in November last year and with a little bit of delving around, I managed to find 19 of those tubes you get with a box of hairdye in different bathroom storage drawers and overnight bags. I am just using up my last one this weekend and have purchased a "proper" bottle again today whilst I was out. Not bad considering it's now March.
Thanks for the constant reminders and motivation you all provide and keep up the good work!
I wonder how DD is getting on ..........................
