  • Not doing as well as some of you - I'm very time limited at the minute, but I did declutter 5 items of old technology today - none of them worked and I've got the updated versions but I was holding on to them for some random reason. Good to see them gone!

Well done everyone who is working away on their decluttering :) I'm hoping to do a bit more as the week goes on.
  • hi all

I have spent some time working on the largest clutter collection - the smallest bedroom aka the study. It was jammed to the point that I couldn't get in the room - bags and boxes everywhere.I managed to empty three boxes and one bag. I have also sorted out lots of other things into piles so that all things the same can be put away properly. This room is definitely a work in progress!

In addition I went through a box of paperwork and did some tasks such as sorting out an old bank account and changing the correspondence address - we only moved 3 yrs ago last October :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:That bank account had £21 in so once that is sorted I will close the account and put that money in the savings.

I ended up with an inch thick pile of paperwork to be shredded, a large rubbish bag to be thrown and 8 items for the charity shop which I will list out when I donate.

I am glad everyone is doing well - posting to this thread has made me keep going so thank you all for that :)

Having a few days of consolidating before the next push next weekend. My successes are:
    1) Had 14 people for a committee meeting last night. Took me 30 mins to clean and tidy whole of downstairs and stairs, boot up my puter, take family coats upstairs to put on guest bed so people could hang up their coats, and move chairs :D
    2) during meeting someone asked about 2009 meeting. I'm secretary, and due to tidy puter files was able to find relevant part in seconds
    3) my inbox at work was empty at going home time
    4) all my regular jobs were done and i know exactly what still needs doing
    5) i can find my shoes, watch and rings in the morning
    6) i always have my thinsulate gloves and hat in my bag so could put them on when it was cold for going home tonight
    7) i never forget my meds cos they are now in one of those 7day pill things and i leave up the last one taken so i know where i'm at
    8) my bed is always made before i leave the house
    9) my work files are all organised sensibly
    10) i always know where the scissors and tape are.
    11) my kitchen drawers are all tidy, ditto desk, ditto front room cabinet
    12) my airing cupboard is all sorted, with double sheets and duvet covers on one shelf, singles on another so i no longer have to find the right size
    13) my bathroom is almost up to hotel standard :D (sealant needs redoing) with matching towels and accessories
    14) my dvds are all in alphabetical order and in the right boxes
    15) i no longer have videos clogging up the cabinet
    16) i no longer have out-of-date food
    17) my diary is my best friend
    18) my car is decluttered
    19) i only have clean clothes i wear in my bedroom drawers
    20) my guest room is fit for guests :D

Wow!! How fantastic, and very, very inspiring !!

    Morning everyone.
I got up this morning and the only item left on the floor at the end of my bed was my purple bedspread. Yesterday I had sorted out my towel pile that lived there. All would not fit in the cupboard space I had. Today I put the bedspread on my bed, it matches the lilac walls.
I can see the carpet now! = much more tidy and it will make vacuuming quicker as I no longer have to pick up things off the floor.

My adult daughter came around last night and took away the spare towels. The cutlery I no longer need. I now have 12 knifes, forks and spoons. Other bits from my give away box near the door.
She way delighted, It is hard in the first few years you leave the nest.

Today, I plan to let the sewing machine see the light! Have not used it for a year or 2!
I want to see if the cut off bit from the new bathroom window curtain will be enough to make a small curtain for the downstairs toilet window. Not that there is any thing wrong with the cream one in there! I think a change can be refreshing.
I kept back a blue bath sheet towel, I want to cut it in half and sew around the edges to make 2 smaller towels.

Time to stop chatting, I need to do the wash the breakfast dishes and reboot the washing machine.

Put away yesterday's laundry off the clothes horse.
    Junk mail in recycle bin.

Recycled an old shirt = made some small bags in lilac colour to put collections in. Like bracelets.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

    Quite a productive morning.

A few weeks ago I went through a load of my husbands paperwork and thinned it down, but there was too much to do all at once.

So I had a second sift of it today and got rid of a load more.

Also tidied out the drawer of his bedside cabinet. He had stuff going back to 1996 in there.

I've piled up the stuff that I want to get rid of, and will check with him tonight that it's ok for it to go.

Now I'm going to try and get some eBay photography done. I prefer natural light for taking photos for eBay, but it's so dull today. But I feel on a roll, and tomorrow I'm going get more stuff down from the loft for sifting, so I really want to crack on.

I'll just have to put the light on and/or use flash

    Hi,

Although I haven't thrown anything away I have had a good tidy up and done loads of ironing. Sorted weekend papers ready for recycling and done some dusting (I hate dusting!).

Feel as though I'm sort of orderly, well downstairs :A
