Hi, I'm currently selling off all our vinyl.

I'm currently working on the singles and soon I should be able to move on the the LP's

I don't know what sort of reciords you have, but this is what I've found.

70's and 80's singles are very slow to shift if they are sold individually - in fact I don't think my life would be long enough to sell them all on an individual basis ! :rotfl:

I've found that selling them as batches works better. I've sold them in batches of anywhere between 25 and 70, and have realised prices of between £12 and £40 for the batches.

I do them as postage free, so I have to find the postage cost from the sale price, so I'm not making a fortune, but they are going out the door.

The 50's and 60's ones are a different matter. I've sorted out some of the more interesting ones, and listed them individually, and they have sold on the first listing for up to £6 a time.

I've also tried small batches of 10, and they sell quickly as well.

I'll be moving on to LP's soon, so I'll have to work out the best method of listing them.

It's been quick a productive week for decluttering.

Thanks for the advice Goldiegirl. I think I need to dig them all out and work out exactly what we have. Needless to say, this hasn't been started today so will have to wait for a future free listing day.

My to-do now looks like this -

    To do
[STRIKE]-clean the house from top to bottom[/STRIKE]:j
    [STRIKE]-do some washing[/STRIKE]
    -ironing
[STRIKE]-sort ebay collection for this afternoon[/STRIKE] now collected
-6 ebay items to parcel up
[STRIKE]-check mealplan for coming week and write shopping list if anything is needed
[/STRIKE] need to defrost soem bits for tomorrow

It's free listing on ebay today so
    [STRIKE]-relist unsold items[/STRIKE]
-list one item that I have to re-do the photo for
[STRIKE]-list stairgate (that I didn't get around to doing last week)[/STRIKE]
-list linen basket no longer need
-list four other small items currently on dining table

The kitchen floor could still do with a wash but it can wait for another day. DH cooked us all roast which we've just had with the kiddies. I've been non stop all day so plan for this evening is a soak in the bath then get all the kids ironing up to date. The rest of the ebaying jobs can wait for another day.

The builders are due to start a week tomorrow, so I will need to make sure I keep up this pace all week to get all my jobs done before then.

    Items decluttered-
-lots of paper bits from DD bedroom and playroom
-3 ends of bottles of cleaning bits
    -pair of holey pants
    -old craft stuff to bin
-mouldy old bath toy net holder thing to bin
-old grubby bath toy to bin
    -pen lids/dried feltips

Some other bits too but I can't remember them now!

I feel pleased with what we have achieved today:

    * OH cut a big bush in the garden and filled up the garden bin
    * Filled up bird food and got rid off a container
    * Coffee machine has been cleaned and descaled. One descaling container has been used up
    * The biggest task of the day though is that I have finished my outstanding sewing tasks, five buttons has been firmly secured on 2 pairs of trousers. Sewing is the most boring task that I can think off!
    * Last weekend I started to dust off all lamp shades and finally finished this today. It's amazing how much dust lands on lamp shades
    * Dust & cleaning cloths have all been washed ready to be used next time I am cleaning.

Have a good week everyone. Good luck with your decluttering.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Back soon, keep up the great work, you are ALL amazing :A

Everyone is doing amazingly well :T, my de-cluttering efforts have been continuing on a daily basis although not in great numbers, life and my "black dog" have meant that I have been unable to post but I here with you all in spirit and applaud all your great efforts :T

This fabulous and extremely supportive thread has made me want to carry on with de-cluttering and has given me lots to think about and has meant that I have been able to get some great routines in place and although they aren't rocket science (my little boys fave saying at the moment) they have made life and our home a lot tider:

    - Dealing with post straight away - junk mail straight into recycling, other mail dealt with and filed/notes made in dairy or calendar
    - Recycling - dealt with daily
    - Toiletries - using up rather than opening new or buying more
    - using up foodstuffs as opposed to just binning them (recently made some lovely apple scones using wrinkly apples where in the past I would have binned them)
    - Thinking twice - Do I want it or need it? when I'm de-cluttering I tend to think charity/friends/freegle or bin

Sorry for all the waffle, I will declare a few things I can remember that I have been able to de-clutter

53 More Football cards - swapits
54 More card/envelopes used as packaging for above
    55 Coat - Grandson
    56 Sports Bag - Grandson

60 Large box of shredded paper - recycling

Keep up the great work everyone :T You are all AMAZING :A

    Hi all xx
Well a wierd kind of decluttering weekend for me!
I drove 3 n half hours (which decluttered a lot of diesel! )
but got to spend a couple of days with one of my dearest friends, we went and did a craft fair yesterday and I sold £30 of my crocheting :D It didnt cover the fuel, but was so good to get back into it after 5 years of not doing fairs, It decluttered my mind as well, as yesterday 2 years ago a nasty evil cancer pinched my darling mummy who I used to do craft fairs with, it was a fitting memorial for her yesterday...

  • Hi MummyEm,

I did quite well - £60 at the sale and another £15 from stuff I have sold today on FB. The house is definitely starting to look tidier although tomorrow I am venturing into DS1's bedroom so that may take longer than the rest of the house put together!

    Happy Days! x

Thanks Purple Chocolate. How did you do in the end?

The sale went well for me. Between that and an ebay sale item that I had collected yesterday, I had £200.00 in from decluttering. Also has 9 other items sell on ebay making around another £21 pounds there too. I guess the de-cluttering is finally starting to 'pay off', just dread to think what it all cost in the first place :o

Congratulations Flying Mamma, another little one to get training in our de-cluttering ways from an early age ;)

Just going to catch up on the rest of the thread with a cuppa in hand now.

    Morning all
There are some really good decluttering posts in this thread. Working together is inspiring. Well done on neat and tidy homes.

Thank you to cte111 for pointing me in the right direction for the quilting lessons and recommending the quilting book.
I shall look at them both.

I made an early start today, and want to keep it up...
So far washing machine on so I can get the laundry out on line earlier.
Made adult DD's packed lunch - she was delighted! rushing to get out of the door.
Washed all breakfast dishes - ok, de cluttered the draining board.

Hanged a new shower curtain @ bathroom window £9.00. The one I had replaced the old one with did not go down to well. One I found they was thin, son said like a plastic bag ;( DD said it was see through ;(. It was blue with a lot of white.
The bought one is mainly blue.

more chatter as I action more...:)

Dancing with Dyson. Vacuum around. Dust and dog hair.

Attacked the bathroom with a tip I learned on MSE. I scrubbed the grouting around the shower tiles with an old toothbrush and neat bleach. Off came a few black bits.
The bathroom was de cluttered last week so nothing new to throw out.

Just sorted my towel pile out. Getting rid of 7 as we have to many for our needs. The are just being piled on the floor. They are being offered to one of my daughters. Any left I will post in the clothes bank.

    Magazines = recycle bin
small photo frame = CS bag
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

Listed a few things on Ebuy yesterday - fingers crossed! DH had his motorbike saddle reupholstered by local man & it was ready so decided to get a small stool & my swivel chair recovered as I've had the vinyl for about 10 years! Could I find it - grrrr. I knew it was somewhere then found I'd rolled it with some other fabric on a tube to get the creases out of it - I now have stuff scattered everywhere from hunting so job today is to clear all away. I also found some trousers, a skirt & a top that I'd put to one side for some running repairs ages ago - they are now sitting alongside sewing machine ready for my 'Fast Day' to keep me busy ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
