Congratulations here too.
Today I have been decluttering and cleaning the kitchen.
The kitchen is a small galley type.
Into some cupboards....we do not need 30 mugs!!!
Family of 4 adults live here.
Into my give away box went about 8. That still leaves 4 for residents and 18 for guests. Ha ha...
We have mugs with names on, mugs with holiday photo's on, mugs brought back from places with name of country on, collage printed mugs.
The tea pot that has not been in use for many years went into the give away box too.
Next I cleaned the shelf with glasses on. We have to many as they are now being left on the work top clean. So deposited a pile into the recycle glass box.
Just hope they all stay in my give away boxes now and the hoarders do not take them out again
Just made some rice krispie cakes with the co co pops that have been hanging around. Bet they get eaten now.
Need to get some more cooking chocolate to Finnish the co co box though.
Emptied kitchen swing bin for recycling. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
flyingmamma, congratulations. Hope both you and Freya are ok.
Well done to everyone else for your decluttering efforts.
I am not getting much done at the moment. The one thing we have done well this month is decluttering the food in the freezer. We are both very skint this month and food that OH has said that he will not eat is now gone. Hoping to defrost the freezer soon.
The other thing that is going well is that I am dealing with the post that is coming every day.

Congratulations on your little girl flyingmamma.
Not a huge amount today, but done
Sorted and tidied out the cutlery drawer and general odds and bobs drawers in the kitchen. Tidied up the drawer for my tea towels in the kitchen.
Threw out an old pair of trainers while I was out in the garage - see I am making a start out there
Cleared out another drawer in bedroom 2 of my late mums odds and ends. She used to use Tweed years ago so I have kept her talc tin and perfume but other bits of her toilettries I have binned.
Threw out old pot pourri in holders.
Went through my whicker basket with my hairdryer, straighteners and curling tongs etc in it. Found one of those electric bath bubbler things at the bottom so I threw that out. Not been used in years so no point in keeping it.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Further decluttering:
7 assorted ornaments (some were my Dad's, memories of buying them with him as a child, but we have lots so kept the best ones)0 -
Evening all  - what a bitterly cold day we've had today brrrrr! Complete with snow flurries ............
Well done to everybody for all your busy-ness in this cold weather :T. My motivation seems to have disappeared along with the lovely, warm weather that we had last weekend- though there is a huge difference in this place since we moved in a few weeks ago.
I had a 'half-baked idea' of going into the garden to complete the small amount of tidying up that I started out there earlier this week - no flipping chance of that at all :rotfl:.
DS1 and his g/f arrived around 11.00am and hung around for ages before he started to raid my fridge/freezer. They managed to declutter a bowl of Lamb Stew with Red Cabbage and a Chicken Tikka Curry with Pilau Rice out of the freezer for their lunch :rotfl:.
DS1 has promised me a visit to Ikea, in his works' van, this week - hopefully I'll get some cheap bookshelves and the kitchen cupboards that I need to improve the storage in there.
More visitors this afternoon - OH's sister, her OH and their dd - but theirs was only a flying visit.
Managed to use up a Pizza (from freezer) for evening meal and some home-made chips - which got rid of some wrinkly spuds from the bag in the cupboard.
Also used up a bag of (slightly) OOD Roasted Red Onion and Balsamic Vinegar Bread Mix to make 6 bread rolls. OH was very impressed with them.
Unfortunately, I found lots of (very) OOD stuff in the fridgeand have had to [STRIKE]dump[/STRIKE] declutter the following into the Food Waste Recycling or down the toilet -
- 29 eggs - don't ask! - some use by Jan 13. I've got to stop using the top shelf for storing stuff with long shelf life as they get forgotten
!
- 1 tub of Butternut Squash Soup - normally gets eaten
- 3slices of Turkey Breast/3slices of Honey Roast Ham
- Pack of assorted varieties of mushrooms
- Pack of tomatoes
- Half a cucumber
- Bag of Radish
- Bag of Mixed Herb Salad
.
Monday is Household Rubbish and Food Waste Recycling day, so I'll make sure that everything is out on the pavement for collection.
I got brand new shiny bins when I moved here - I requested new ones as the old ones were disgustingly 'manky' due to previous tenant being very disabled and carers just throwing stuff straight into them with no binbags. Somebody tried to nick my new ones a couple of weeks ago. I've now put my door number on all of them in those large, bright, stripey numbers - woe betide anybody who tries that trick again ! I am very OCD about my bins - it's just a pity I'm not the same about my home :rotfl:. The elderly lady who lives beneath me is delighted because I've told her she can share my new larger size bins and also that I've assumed the responsibility for looking after them.
I am making a couple of commitments for tomorrow -- I WILL definitely do a freezer inventory
- IF the weather isn't too cold - I WILL get those shrub trimmings picked up and into the Garden Waste Bin
- I WILL NOT go buying any more food for the next two weeks - except for fresh milk, fruit and eggs
0 - 29 eggs - don't ask! - some use by Jan 13. I've got to stop using the top shelf for storing stuff with long shelf life as they get forgotten

I'm just back from dropping off stuff at my local NCT sale too! Playroom is looking tidy - good luck with your sales! x
Thanks Purple Chocolate. How did you do in the end?
The sale went well for me. Between that and an ebay sale item that I had collected yesterday, I had £200.00 in from decluttering. Also has 9 other items sell on ebay making around another £21 pounds there too. I guess the de-cluttering is finally starting to 'pay off', just dread to think what it all cost in the first place
Congratulations Flying Mamma, another little one to get training in our de-cluttering ways from an early age
Just going to catch up on the rest of the thread with a cuppa in hand now.0
