MummyEm ... I have one although I'm not sure its ideal ... I have a friend who is a community support police officer - i introduced Noah to him .... yesterday I said to Noah... that's it I am going to have to ring Policeman Steve to come and get you ... I have never seen a 3 year old tidy so quickly - he tidied all his toys and the living room - so I pretend rang Policeman Steve to tell him what a good boy Noah has been!!!
I love it!! I just need to befriend a police officer now!0 -
Well I ended up going back to bed after posting this morning. Being up at 6am plus having a cold caught up with me and I just couldn't stay awake.
I managed to get up for lunch, but had no energy to do much else. I've sat on the sofa sorting out piles of paperwork. I've gone through 2 years of receipts. Kept the important ones and have piled the rest for burning. I was shredding them but the shredder died on me. I still have about another year's worth of receipts to go so I'll carry on slowly working through those.
It's not tackling any of the big jobs that need doing, but at least it's something productive.0 -
Hello, I would like to join you please! I came across this thread a few days ago and have been catching up on it ever since! You are all so friendly and supportive and I'm sure it would really help my decluttering efforts to be a part of this group.
Quick intro: I have always struggled with "stuff". About 8 months ago we moved house and for the preceding year I made a real effort to get rid of things. Unfortunately, we still have lots of things we don't really need. I am going to try to deal with 13 items per day and will start off today! It is a beautiful winter's day here and my DH and the kids are off skiing but I am stuck home with a twisted kneebut I think I can do a bit of hobbling round collecting rubbish/recycling etc as a start. I'll report back later (that means I will actually have to do something, lol).
You lot are so inspiring I'm sure that this year will be the year I really take control of the situation, fingers crossed. (Though might have to start off with a :coffee: first...oh yes, I'm good at wasting time!)0 -
Not much doing decluttering wise for me today. Such good weather.
Bathroom got cleaned, including the insides of the cupboards. Why I had 2 travel size sewing kits in one of the cupboards, I have know idea. Now been put into the sewing box.
And also I've got enough bottles of bleach to last most of the year - 5 full bottles & 1/2 a bottle - which is currently being used.
Some paper/cardboard/cans have been put into recycling box & have cut up some apples & put out for the birds.
One Amazon sale has been parceled up & ready to post when I finish work tomorrow afternoon.
Bedroom windows have been cleaned inside and the cats nose art has been removed.0 -
Evening  everybody and welcome to WinterWonder and any other new posters
.
Be careful with the 'hobbling', WW - don't do any further damage to that knee. Have you perhaps got any 'shredding' that could be done whilst sitting down? Might be worth sorting some out for when you can't move around too well.
Highland Lady - I finished up with quite a few of those travel sewing kits. It finally dawned on me that the best place to put at least ONE of them was inside my hand luggage bag, or suitcase, for going on holiday. There's another inside my 'overnight bag' and yet another inside the 'zippy bit' of my everyday bag. Every time I visit my daughter, she needs a bit of sewing done and she's rubbish - doesn't even own a needle and cotton !!!
:T well done everybody on all your motivation and decluttering - amazing how the brighter weather seems to have spurred us all on in the past couple of days :j
Have been keeping on top of the daily rubbish / recycling / junkmail / food waste recycling / laundry / drying all week - so quite pleased with myself.
Had a busy day with chucking out stuff - far too much to warrant listing - suffice to say that we've had to get out the 2nd recycling bin this week and there's now loads in it :j. Luckily tomorrow is 'all bins day' ............... so lots of lovely empty space after the lovely guys been :T.
Just had our evening meal and then heading back into the spare bedroom to see if I can reduce the number of boxes/containers as some of them are now 'part empty'.
Ooops just got a phone call - rest of the decluttering may have to be postponed. Looks like we're getting visitors - ds1/gf/her son all on their way as it's her son's birthday tomorrow and they're coming to collect his card and pressie. Oh well, tomorrow IS another day ...............................
Take care all - may pop back in again a little later - love Lilyplonk xxx0 -

Just popping in to say hello, and that not much decluttering has happened here since I last logged in. Having the house up for sale ensures that it is kept tidy and clutter-free, and if any viewers are due it gets a quick dust and hoover, so most of the time it's 'visitor friendly'.
I must add though, that we put the house up for sale last June, so decluttering started last April/May, and there's not a lot left now that isn't needed or used. A few exceptions - my craft stash, my fabric stash, and clothes. I'm not ready to tackle them yet, although they have been pared down somewhat these past 9 months.
Had a sewing day on Thursday, with a friend, and we made 20 morsbags, so that made a bit of a dent in the fabric stash. Only trouble is we've been promised more fabric from people! It's not in the house yet though so I won't panic yet!
Update:
42. Junk mail in recycling
43. Plate returned to mum & dad
44. Cake box returned to mum and dad
45. Overnight bag returned to mum and dad
46. 2 bottles wine drunk
47-66 20 morsbags made and distributed
One advantage of having a decluttered and tidy house is that I've had more time to spend on sewing and crafts instead of worrying about getting the housework done!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Half term, so back to the decluttering.
DS and I cleaned my car out, somehow the boot got wet and a pile of old course notes in there got a soaking! As I have not needed them for a couple of years they have been recycled. Also cleared out lots of sweet wrappers.
The car now sparkles inside and out and smells good too.
Whilst tea was cooking I cleared out some kitchen cupboards. I have thrown some stuff that will never be used. The cupboards look so much better. I will continue in the kitchen tomorrow.
Yesterday, I spent an hour or so in the garden. I filled two big garden rubbish bags and there is still loads to do. DH will take those to the tip/recycling centre tomorrrow.
Happy decluttering everyone.

Last week blitzed my wardrobes and took three bags to the CS.
Today
Cleaned out the cloakroom, tidied the shoes on the racks up and went through the first aid box chucking out anything that was out of date.
Threw out some out of date cosmetics and lotions/potions from bedroom.
Tidied up and rearranged my scarf and hat drawer, checked my shoes and boots for any repairs needed.
Cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, washed them and put everything back in tidy (it was tidy before but just rearranged).
Blitzed the study and now need to get on with a behammoth amount of shredding ready for the burner.
Went through the medicine cupboard in the bathroom and chucked out anything that was out of date and had a general tidy up in there as well.
Next Big Job
The garage in the week I need to get rid of paint pots and other items in there. We are moving house this year so I need to get this sorted now before we go. It also means I can add more to the bin each week without having to make an extra trip to the tip in the car. Trying to find a way to save along the way and extra trips in the car is one of them.
The shed will also need to be dealt with as well so that may be a job for next week, but it's on my list to get done ASAP.
That just leaves the loft to be got around - once and for all - and I need to get up there again this time having a look at the burgeoning Christmas decorations of which there are a few boxes!!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
