Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Yesterday I culled old cereals from the top of the fridge freezer (some of it expired in 2009!), old make-up and toiletries, and old saved plastic take-away containers. This weekend's agenda involves seriously culling clothes (I estimate I only wear 20% of what I have, but most of my clothes are sitting in piles on the bedroom floor). Maybe some more books, and generally sort out the bedroom, because we have a new bed coming on Monday."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Good morning everybody :hello: - hope you've all got a day as beautiful as ours :j. The sun is shining and we can see right across to the Welsh Hills about 30mls away.
I love this time of year with the days getting brighter - hope that it helps those of you who've been having problems with 'the black dog' recently - (((((special hugs))))) for all who have trouble 'shaking him off'.
I've not fully caught up with everybody's postings but I CAN see that you've all been very busy and also that we've got some new 'de-clutterbugs' on board - ((((welcome hugs)))) to everybody and well done on all your progress.
I've been missing for a couple of days, but it's been a very busy couple of days .........................- Spare bedroom was 'put to rights' (played tetris with furniture and 'boxes of stuff/carp' / sorted double bed with fresh bedding).
- Decided to keep the new TV that we bought last week - have now 'got used to it' - so have now disposed of all the packaging to recycling/rubbish.
- New bed arrived for 'our room' - we let the delivery men bring it upstairs and then chased them. Decided we'd rather 'sort it ourselves' than have them around for another half hour - think they were glad to get off to their next delivery
. All packaging sorted out for recycling/rubbish and dealt with - 2nd recycling bin has had to be brought into play
.
- Ordered a mattress topper from Argos but had to go to next town to collect cos ours had none in stock
- treated myself to a 'freebie coffee' at the same time as I had a full loyalty card for the coffee shop:j.
- New bedding ordered from catalogue - Super King Size Four Seasons Duvet and 2sets of spare covers - due in 10days time. I know it wasn't exactly :money: but we like plenty of 'overhang' on our bedding :rotfl:. At least with the catalogue, it gets paid gradually (not quite so painful) plus don't have the hassle of carrying the bulkiness of the darn duvets home) - I DID check at A$da first, but they just don't sell the size that I needed
.
- New bed was sorted complete with new fitted bottom sheets (this one is KS
). Have still got the KS bedding on it at the moment, but that will be transferred to the DB in spare room.
- Got some good news in the post - when I got home on Thurs there were two envelopes from local council - they had granted my application for Housing Ben./Council Tax Ben. and back-dated it to my original application for last July :j:j:j. When I rang to clarify it all, was told that there's more to come :money::money:. I've not got the full award BUT it's a damn good proportion of it
.
.
Have currently got dgd1 staying - she's 'hogging the bathroom' at the moment, have promised her 'lunch out' in return for some decluttering help :rotfl: - we'll be popping down to the local Garden Centre in a while as they have a great cafeteria. She loves feeling grown up and she IS a good help to me ................
I'll be back in again later - take care all and have a good day - love Lilyplonk xxx0 -

Remove stickers from windows (this is proving difficult, they don't peel off and leave bits and sticky stuff, will have a try at scraping them off with ice scraper I think, then maybe sugar soap?)
Try using a little ordinary vegetable oil, let it soak in a bit then will wipe off easily. Veg oil is brilliant for removing all manner of sticky stuff - especially good if kids get bubble gum stuck in their hair as it immediately nullifies the stickiness! Also good for getting White gloss paint off of a very silly dog who thought it would be a good idea to roll against a freshly painted skirting board!!Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Wonderful hubby has been feeling much better so has been chucking like mad, he got rid of three sacks full of carp over the last few days - he is a diamond (and he got me a lovely glass trinket pot for Valentines) am very lucky
Have a very long list of "outs" to post here, will do that hopefully later today.
I think its the sun which has pushed us on into the spurt. Been quite mild here as well, feels almost springlike:j

cte1111 Sorry I forgot to mention this yesterday. I have found that White Spirit is very good for removing the sticky residue left behind after pull the sticker off. It literally only takes one wipe, and it's gone. I've used it on glass jars many times (after DH's clever suggestion). I'd advise caution though not to get it on the window frame/sill/surrounding fabrics etc as that could be
Or you can wet the leftover sticker with warm water then rub some oil into it - leave it for about 10 mins the sticker, get a scraper and gentle scrape off - when we first moved here DDs bedroom door was covered with football stickers :mad:0 -
well my immaculate house is back to its usual tip lol! trying to teach 3 year old to tidy up (have even pretend thrown away toys he's not taking a blind bit of notice) any ideas????0

I don't feel I'm getting anywhere very quickly today but I have...
Saturday
-finish passport form
[STRIKE]-dismantle old wardrobe [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]– to tiptip run (DH)[/STRIKE]
-Ironing - all the kids clothes
[STRIKE]-washing all bedding[/STRIKE]
-clean upstairs
I can't motivate myself to start cleaning so instead I have sorted 31 bundles of clothes/toys/books for the baby sale. I have about 3 times that amount left to go, and I've not yet been through the kids wardrobes which I know need a clear out too
I have also listed 8 more items on ebay and one on FB. 2 ebay items have sold today too. I do really need to clean though...
It's going in the right direction, but I'm feeling overwhelmed today. I think I would need to do this much every day for a month to make a dent0 -
