  • Hello

I've been reading this thread for ages and have been inspired by you all and encouraged to make a start, so think I finally qualify to post.

Everything has been getting too much so took a step back, a deep breath and started slowly with a few things to the charity shop and flattening the empty boxes (which I've kept for just about everything we have bought) into the recycling bin.

Have also started listing on Gumtree as a simple way to sell stuff we no longer need, and have been pleasantly surprised how much stuff has gone already.

Still a long way to go but happy to have finally made a start.

    Thanks everyone.

No idea but I have a 3 year old myself who I have the same problem with so if you find an answer, please share :rotfl:

MummyEm ... I have one although I'm not sure its ideal ... I have a friend who is a community support police officer - i introduced Noah to him .... yesterday I said to Noah... that's it I am going to have to ring Policeman Steve to come and get you ... I have never seen a 3 year old tidy so quickly - he tidied all his toys and the living room - so I pretend rang Policeman Steve to tell him what a good boy Noah has been!!!

As a Mum to 6 children - under 11 - I had a large dining room. A conservatory was attached so lots of room for them to play. Toys were in those 2 areas and their bedrooms but not in the lounge. I had a stair gate on the dining room doorway to keep them in! Worked till they got old enough to drag over a chair and climb over the gate. Thankfully - youngest child is now 32!

We had this rule with DD - our first home was very small so no toys were kept in the living room - DD bought a toy down then it was put away when finished with - DS has toys everywhere - the problem is I have one of those big wooden play tables at the bottom of the stairs (my downstairs is quite open planned) so the toys spread...however, DS has started sitting on the table rather than playing with it - so am thinking its time to go along with toddler bed :cry::sad::cry::sad:

  • Hi everybody, I have had a fairly productive week, sorted 11 drawers from bedroom,

2 carry bags of rags DH for work
2 carry bags of rubbish to bin
    Lots more to do
Have a good weekend what ever you do.
Hugs to everyone who needs them. x

56-58. glass chopping boards with feet missing/faded or ripped backing & all squalid looking. Binned. Note to self, do not put new one (had been in cupboard for 2 years!) into dishwasher.
    59. 4 year old almond essence - binned
    60. too old spice binned
    61. used up a biro, binned
    62. -63. long dead, out dated hot chocolate (looked like dust) and a handful of sachets from hotel stays. Oh dear!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Afternoon all

Not much decluttering today. Made a lemon cheesecake first thing this morning, for a family dinner later. Looks nice, hopefully will set in time.

Decided to make an effort for said family dinner, put my hair in velcro rollers. Was aiming for soft, tousled Claudia Shiffer-style hair. Looks more like Shirley Temple . Hoping the weight will pull it down a bit before I go, lol.

Changed my homephone and broadband deal yesterday, should save about £200 a year. :money:would be proud!

Right, going to fly and clean that bathroom, aiming for a good clean, should be about an hour. Happy sunshine to everyone who has it x

    Keep Smiling :)

Lovely wheather over here too. Washed the duvet this morning and now drying on the line. The sun will be shining here tomorrow as well so have decided that I will wash the bathroom mat and hang it outside before going to work.

So far today I have achieved:
    * put away all washing from yesterday and also done all the ironing. * Also spent a couple of minutes sorting out our carrier bags. Those that were broken I have put in our food shopping bags to be dropped off for recycling next time we go. I have also emptied the bins upstairs and put a couple of carrie bags underneath the current bin bag so that next time I empty it I don't need to go downstairs for a new bag.
    * 3 x birthday cards have been posted

Off to do the hoovering and dusting the lampshades now. I can suddenly see the cobwebs now when the sun is out

Hope the sun is shining on you too! Enjoy your Sunday

Hi all, slow start, I did not want to move...
Once I got going though. Bag of clutter to new home.
Then black bag in hand to see what I could put in. Binned :)
Washing in machine and on line.
Danced with Dyson, dust and dog fur now in bin.
Slowly filling up some bags for CS.

Just off for a walk now - it is FREE.

My walk took my to the Range. Looked around the shop and bought....
new cleaning duster in pink £1.49. new dish brush, also pink £1.29 and x2
    4 bar t/hanger £2.99.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
