Evening all  - had a lovely day here today though still a bit cold - but no rain or wind :j!
Congrats on your job offer, hannerrbabes :T - that's great news,
(((Welcome hugs))) to our newbies - great to see more declutterbugs joining the crowd on here
No major decluttering during the day for me - though I had to go and sort out a Housing/Council Tax Benefit Form - fingers crossed that I get some THIS time!
Then it was on to Argos to collect a plastic storage drawer thingy for my entrance porch. My idea is to put all our gloves / hats / scarves / umbrellas (going-outdoors-stuff) into it to keep the porch tidy - instead of rummaging all over the place in the flat. Shifted two boxes out of the porch for a sort through this evening - can't believe I've come across some old Training Manuals / Study Assignments from 1997 / Chair-based Exercise Leaders Training Manual PLUS my Certificate from it / handwritten minutes notes from about 10yrs ago / some old catalogue statements / old CC Statements. All have now been dealt with - statements shredded and put into the appropriate recycling bins :j. I've now got a pile more Project Folders and Plastic Pockets for my collection of 'office supplies'.
Also came across 12btls of Robinsons Blackcurrant Squash :rotfl: - from work last spring. I'll give my kids a few bottles each to take home for their families lol.
Four cardboard boxes all now flattened to join the others in the outdoor lock-up.
No need to go out at all tomorrow - so will have a full day of decluttering. Hopefully OH will go out somewhere, so I can tackle some of his stuff while his back's turned :rotfl:.
That's me done for this evening - ready for bed and a few pages of Northanger Abbey ................ speak in the morning - Lilyplonk xx0 -
TheDoolallyDilly, congratulations on being offered the job and well done for being honest with yourself and turning it down. nil, welcome to this friendly and inspiring thread. I am so sorry to read about your loss. Be kind to yourself and don't push yourself to hard with the decluttering. I remember how exhausted I felt after the funeral when I lost my sister to cancer when she was only 38. Sue14, well done for contacting the hospital re: discharge. This will hopefully make a difference to someone else's discharge experience. Good luck with sorting out your dad's care long term.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for all the inspiration I am getting from this thread and not just only in terms of decluttering. I don't normally post here at 3 am since I don't usually have any troubles sleeping. But tonight my head has been buzzing and I am finding it difficult to relax. This is due to illness at work so I have spent the whole week working in the reception dealing with things I don't normally get involved with. On the plus side I have learnt new skills to add to my CV which will come in handy since I am only temping. Tonight I have used this thread to declutter my mind rather than physical items. Back to normal decluttering later on. Now I feel ready to go back to bed.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Hello all, had rotten cold so this week has all been about coping. A little bit of decluttering done here and there, can't remember most but included a teapot which was meant to go to cs but it fell off buggy and smashed
and 5 or so more DD clothes to CS. Calling it 150, so 250 items to go to reach target.
Someone asked why I don't sell my things by the weight rather than give to charity. If an item is really good quality/good brand I sell it, but otherwise I like to pass it on to a charity (anything stained or ripped goes in the recycling). I get lots of good things from charity, so I think it is good karma to give back, and give someone else the opportunity to enjoy it at a price they can afford. It also is a :money: way to support charities, without having to give them hard cash. There are so many problems in the world today, if my used items can help support groups and organisations who help to make it a better place that makes me feel happy.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hi guys, as money savers a question for you all...
Why are you sending your clutter to the CS when you can earn money by selling them to the shops that pay by weight.
Where I live there is no shop that takes stuff by weight and if there were, I don't have a car to take it.
I don't sell on ebay as I find it too stressful, I don't car boot because I don't have a car boot
I give a huge amount of stuff to our local charity shop. I like to think of the wealth circulating. Its great to make a bit of cash, but imagine the ramifications if we all stopped giving to charity shops. museumworker had put it much more eloquently than I can... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi, do you mind if I jump back in please? I was here a while ago but decluttering had to stop for various reasons but I've got the bit between my teeth again now!
Over the past week I've found some books for CS, some of DD's outgrown school uniform, and various other bits and bobs. Have to make a sad confession as though I fit in size 10 M&S pants, they're just not as comfy as the size 12s but I've admitted defeat - I am no longer size 10so a big pile of them is being decluttered!!
Going to the tip today as found some old baking trays/tins that are just so past their best and also an old roller blind which is rather manky.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0
