Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Hi everyone, just checking in and saying hello.
Been away for a few days but back today. Not been back long so had a wee feet up and a cuppa and now I'm feeling guilty so had better do something!
Put food packaging and empty milk bottles into the recycling bin while I was waiting for the kettle to boil.
Planning to do a couple of washes and then have a wee nosey back at my bedroom to see what else I can clear from my side of the bed. Managed a reasonable amount early on in the week and then forgot about it. Whoops! Will let you know how I get on later, I have a tendency to be easily sidetracked/lose interest/have too many tea breaks.0 -

Is it possible to have too many tea breaks? I've been having them for most of the day to no ill effect. They have prevented me from actually decluttering, but I have managed to multi-task while drinking the tea by making a list of what I'm going to declutter :rotfl:.
In a minute, I'm going to get up and make a start on the list...

Just nipping in to post my list of decluttered things. Quite a good week's achievement. I don't think so much will be done this week. I've found that Tuesday seems to be the best day for decluttering in my schedule, but I'm probably going out this Tuesday, so there'll be less opportunity to declutter

Hello
DD brought down a black bag of rubbish from her room. DS1 brought down a carrier bag full and DS2 and 3 managed half a bag. I then went into DD's room and emptied the bin!!! so another bag of rubbish.
Half term in another week so hoping to get more done then.

Well done to your kids for doing a bit of tidying! What's your secret? I need a huge amount of bribery for mine to tidy their rooms and then usually I end up doing most of it anyway while they 'help' by sitting on their beds saying yeah keep or no I don't want it anymore.
Am about to start trying to do more of my bedroom, I've been sidetracked with two tea breaks whilst watching the Mary Berry story on BBC2...0 -
I've not been posting on this thread lately, mainly due to not actively decluttering...........so had nothing to feel good about.
Well today I got my back my mojo and have throw away (not giving these to CS) lots of old bras and pants. I can't for the life of me know why I've been keeping these for so longggggggg. Also tried to throw away some old cotton t-shirts but DH has put them in the garage to use as rags! Oh well at least my drawers close more easily at last instead of pushing everything down so far that your fingers almost get jammed when you close it.
I will continue reading this thread and hope it encourages me to declutter some more.
THANK YOU

Hello, I have just found this thread. I am just going to dish up the dinner now but please may I join.
I really need to declutter. Amazingly the last few months I finally managed to start attacking it and have done loads but its so tough when you hit rock bottom and everything just builds up without you even seeing it. I worked seven days a week and ridiculous hours so the house became a place we only slept in. I have come a long way but need to do more. I find that with so much its hard because most things have meaning or in many cases I think of what it cost. Useless when it pains me to see it in the house!! I need to get out of this as I am truly happy when I have no clutter and actually relax. I have gone from a person who has clothes in the cupboard coordinated to a slob I think!! Like I said it has got better, I let people in my house again but any motivation I really would love please0 -

He came home from walking the dog with - an empty plastic washing powder tub, a baby's hat, a pull out toy storage bin, an empty bottle - AND - a cuddly toy!

Glad to see the momentum is still going - it's been in fits and starts here, but this weekend has been productive. We've just had some storage built in the bathroom, so I have been collecting everything bathroom-related into one place. For some reason we have nine (!!) bottles of shampoo - probably from not having a specific place for them before.
So I've sorted the towels, and got rid of the old ones and the baby ones that are too small now - and have also started sorting through the linen basket. 2 sets of bedding for each bed, and everything else is going out! And I am NOT doing my usual trick of keeping them for 'decorating' - we already have that covered. I've also got rid of a couple of old pillows, as again we only need so many.
Slowly getting there!0 -
2 perfumes binned, quite old and never particularly liked them.
Recycle bin for an old Argos book I found down behind some boxes.
One practically new sports bra and about five tops too big for me/never wear for charity shop. 2 necklaces for CS, just not keen on them anymore and they were cheap in a sale years ago.
I seem to find receipts and train tickets breeding round the house and keep coming across piles of them, ripped up for recycle bin.
Not bad for an hours work but more to do.
Hmmm...tea break?0
