oh DawnW what recipe do you use? this is my fav cake but the recipe i tried was horrid x
I don't know where this originally came from, because I got it from a little book of my great Aunt's that Mum was going to throw out after she died about 20 years ago, one of those note books where you write or stick recipes. Probably came from a magazine in the 1950s!
Grease and line a 1lb loaf tin (I told you it was old! But Lakeland have them - I am sure you could use another shaped tin, but it is handy for all kinds of cakes)
Set oven to 350 f (180c) or gas 4
Beat together 4 oz softened butter or margarine (I use the St*rk stuff in tubs for most cakes) 6oz self raising flour, 6 oz sugar, 2 eggs, 4 tablespoons of milk and the grated zest of a lemon for 2 minutes. I used the Kenwood, but I remember auntie with her wooden spoon, and being allowed to lick it
Spoon into the loaf tin, smooth top and bake in oven for about an hour till golden, well risen and cooked through. Loosen the edges of the cake from the tin, mix the juice of the lemon with 3 tablespoons of sifted icing sugar and spoon over the hot cake in the tin. Then sprinkle with a little granulated sugar to make the top crunchy.
Leave in the tin till cold, then turn out and slice.
4oz, for people who are younger than me (or my auntie) is about 115 g, and 6 oz is 175g.
Easy and cheap - hope you like it x0 -

Listed an item on ebay and relisted two. I've sold three items today totaling just over £60 + postage. Things don't really seem to be selling well at the moment. I guess it's the post xmas slowdown
I'm still listing things on there, as I'll just relist stuff until it goes.
Also have a buggy footmuff in the WM now which need to listed so I'll do that tonight if it's dry by then.
I've also got a pile of 5 items ready for DH to take up to the loft in the week.0 -

My bathroom has been overflowing with products I have bought in bulk (5 bottles of bubble bath, 3 bottles of soap, 6 bars of soap etc) so I have allocated a shelf in the linen cupboard for such things, I've moved my medicine box in there too.
Also, I have moved my kitchen around so it is more user friendly (why I had the microwave on that side of the sink is beyond me) I have also got rid of my deep fat fryer. I don't use it enough to warrant having one. If I really have a craving for chips I can always buy frozen ones.
So that's my de-cluttering for the day! Time for a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuitDebt Free Target Date: December 2014

Absolutely right about decluttering being more than just removing things from the home.
My sewing stuff was cluttered as it was spread all over and not organised. Since organising it all firstly into one place, then sorting it properly, sewing has become much easier. It's also decluttered the places where it was spread over before.
So no more being cross with yourself if you are not getting rid, if you are sorting and organising then you are also decluttering.
Much warmer here, snow almost all gone, roads clearer. Be a heatwave and a drought next week!Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Not done so well this weekend as I'm loaded with cold/flu, feeling dreadful and so are my kids.
Have got rid of a chair to my brother though which we didn't need and he has a use for it so its good it hasn't gone to waste. We also have a bookcase he can use but not enough room in the car for that at the same time so will put it in the garage until I feel up to taking it over to him. Going out today once was enough, just feeling horrible and I can't stop sneezing!
Have got the heating on, scarf on, am under the duvet and I'm still cold! I'm one of those idiots who tries to battle on without taking anything for it but I think I might cave in and have a lemsip or something.
At least I've managed to declutter one thing today, hopefully later on in the week I might perk up and get more done.0
