Thought I'd tackle the mountain in my bedroom. Managed to sort out 3 boxes, but the contents only ended up better sorted into new storages boxes :o. But the 3 cardboard boxes are going in the recycling. I vacuum packed a suitcase of old clothes, but (again) I kept the lot. I managed to get to my wardrobe and put some clothes on hangers that have been hanging around in piles. Then I sorted out my wardrobe floor and found some old boots from my teen days, they brought back memories and I couldn't bear to part with them. I may wear them again as my feet haven't grown :rotfl:. Found lots of toiletries on the wardrobe shelf that can be used up before I buy any more!

So apart from 3 boxes and some random bits of paper for recycling nothing has been done (again )

The children have been sledging down the road today (we live in a cul de sac) and have had loads of fun, then a couple of the neighbours came out and shovelled all the snow away, so that's their fun ruined. Fingers crossed it snows loads tonight ;):rotfl:

  • I didn't do a thing yesterday :o well, I finished reading a couple of magazines and put them in the recycling, but that's it.

Today I AM going to sort through another file and hopefully shred some more paperwork.
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Good morning :hello: - well I was up and on the PC before dgs1 this morning. He surfaced about an hour after me, so I've managed a 'relaxing wake-up time' before he decided he wanted his breakfast. He now looks as though he's getting a bit bored with the limited number of cartoon channels that we have on our 'Freeview' - think I'll see if there's any dvd's that he fancies having a look at.

Might take him for a walk down to our local Garden Centre later - we could do with some secateurs to be able to make a start on clearing some space in the rear garden. We DO have some 'somewhere' but like everything else, they 'appear to have disappeared' in the move :(. Then again, I think it needs something more akin to a 'flame thrower' to get through that lot ;).

In the meantime, OH has now 'surfaced' so I'm off to straighten the bedrooms and see about making some porridge for breakfast - think I can find some maple syrup to go with it .

Have already 'decluttered' a chicken from the freezer for evening meal later :j.

Good Luck, declutterers - speak again later, Lilyplonk xxx

    So this is the plan

Flylady and declutter 500 things in January
Reduce Spare room stuff by 10 items a time. Clear floor, desk, bed
Sort Lounge papers with wallets. Clear table/shelves
    Clear Bedroom windowsill, boxshelf, floor
Reduce Garage stuff by 10 items a time
Reduce Loft stuff by 10 items at a time

So I attacked the spare room, not leaving til I found 10 items :j

    304. -325.
Lots more snow here so an ideal time to get dug into more decluttering.

Will attack the spare room again. And see how clear I can get the desk.

Going to try and clear the bedroom windowsill too.

Read something interesting from a decluttering book (Toothbrush principle) about if something is visible it reminds us to deal with it. But in time that stuff becomes just stuff. Unless you have like an area for letters/parcels to post. I'm going to put stuff I need to deal with (letters etc) into a wallet and write what I need to do on a list and keep that at the front. It isn't working keeping stuff laying around so let's try this other way.

So I've got 3 things to concentrate on the spare, the bedroom windowsill and putting stuff I need to action in a wallet with a to do list.

    Plan :j

:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

Have read a couple of posts from people feeling they havent done much. Decluttering isnt just about getting rid of stuff, it is also about organising stuff we want to keep so well done to those of you who have been doing this. You might prefer to set weekly targets of straightening out one area. And i dont mean a whole room, more a drawer or chest of drawers. Just think, in one year that would be 52 areas :-)

But you HAVE had a good tidy up, and found some toiletries that you can use instead of buying more, which will save you some money X

I found a load of sachets etc that I saved for a rainy day. I have moved these to the swim bag so they will be used up and save me a bit!

Looking for a storage solution for my bits for craft fares... If only I'd get round to sewing the curtains that are currently stored in the suitcase!!

Not much to report this end so far :o

6 books on the CS pile

tech items that belong to work put ready to take back there

some dried haricot beans that have been lurking in the larder are being cooked so that they can go in the freezer where they are much more likely to actually get used

OH has just sorted out an electrical flex issue that has been causing a draught and looking untidy (it was stuck through an internal window and the gap where it was slightly open stuffed up with dishcloths - not a glamorous look :rotfl:

OK, confession time - I have too much crockery, pretty vintage part sets bought very cheaply at auction. I don't think I can part with any just yet (though would like a shot if a friend or relative wanted it) as it is SO pretty. So, I think I will find a cardboard box and pack some away for now, freeing up a shelf to store glasses - but I probably have too many of those as well :o:o

    And books of course....

Clothes I don't have too much of an issue with (I had a massive sort out when we moved 18 months or so ago), although there are still a few in my wardrobe that I don't wear/ don't fit, and this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Right off to do a bit more :)
