  • I went through my husband's underwear and sock drawers and got rid of a few that needed binning.:D I also rearranged it so they were separate as they were all mixed in together.

I got a fancy dress costume that he had been keeping for about 3 years (for no reason:mad:) and so that will be taken to the charity shop next week.

Well today I managed to out a large carrier bags of books by the back door ready to go to charity shop,
Also got 6 parcels of things sold on ebay sent today - :D

I did have the cupboard that seems to have just bits n bobs sorted... but got sidetracked with a lapse in snow - dad and I got logs chopped and bagged up for the next few days.

Then got sidetracked again by a hat I am crocheting!! Does the fact that now have less wool in my workbasket count as decluttering :A

wik the secret is a bit of sorting and a bit of downtime. Sounds like you've had a good day with sorting, crafting and outdoor exercise.

I'm still trying to catch up on the posts since my last post, everyone has been so busy! I wish I could say the same but I've not really been in the mood for decluttering, and not had much time or energy either, as my dad was taken into hospital with breathing problems 2 weeks ago (he had a chest infection) and is still in there, so I've been worrying about him and also having to visit him in between working and helping MIL!

I finally binned the broken plate rack on Monday, but it has been replaced by one that MIL's partner had at his house, as MIL is clearing the house and wants family to take what they want. He also had a drawer full of tea towels, SIL took some but I declined as I already have far too many (I was very pleased with myself for saying no, lol!), though I must admit I did bring back 3 dinner plates, which I've always liked the pattern on, and a desk fan for DS.

I took mine and OH's Christmas presents from DS out of their boxes, put the contents away and put the packaging in recycling.

Posted an ebay parcel, binned 2 scouring sponges, an old toothbrush, an eye pencil, a manky nail polish, a bottle of hair remover (which I've had so long it had gone hard ) and a hair tie, and put an empty deodorant can and an empty body spray can into recycling. Also went through the food cupboards and binned some very OOD food, namely a pack of bread flour, 4 sachets of yeast, 2 sachets of soup, and put 6 tortilla wraps out for the birds.

I was hoping to get more done over the weekend, as I can't visit my dad due to the snow, but OH and I have been very lazy today, and have spent most of the day snuggled under a blanket on the sofa watching TV!

  • I'm going to join you all if I may. The whole house seems to be cluttered and just looking at it is energy zapping! So here's January's tasks:
    1. Christmas decs - there is still stuff up in the loft we didn't use. DH has bought some plastic boxes with lids so we are going to get all the stuff down and sort through it - throw out or give to CS what we don't need and pack and label what we want to keep. Done.
    2. We have to have a new boiler which means there will be space for an airing cupboard (current boiler so big it takes up the whole cupboard). So new shelves to be fitted in boiler cupboard for towels/bedding. So will sort through all bedding/towels. Limiting bedding to three sets for each bed, anything else will go to CS.
    3. Wardrobe - love the idea of putting coat hangers wrong way round. I need to sort clothes out into winter/summer and store what's not in season to free up some space.
    4. DH and I need to sort out the magazines - his walking mags, my fashion/knitting/craft mags. We've bought some box files and plastic wallets so that we can sort out what we want to keep and file away.
    5. Need to sort out bills/statements/receipts/guarantees/etc. We have filing cabinets and folders but I've let things slip so need to get back on track.
I think that is enough to start with. Funny how writing it out makes it feel as if it is achievable.
Too cold to go out so lots of time for decluttering. Tomorrow I intend to finish off the magazine sorting . I've sorted some clothes/shoes out for the CS and OH will take them on Monday. Managed to clear the decks in the kitchen last weekend. Most of it was stuff that was just waiting to be put away!

Decluttered various ornamental boxes and small containers in the kitchen and lounge yesterday. Also emptied ottoman and repacked it neatly. Rearranged things on shelving and it's now much tidier, temporarily no doubt, but it feels and looks much less messy right now.

Evening all  - is it just me, or does it feel a little bit warmer tonight?

Well done to all you out there in 'Declutter-land' :T - lots of progress and motivation going on.

More empty boxes have gone into my outdoor lock-up - will see if I can add a few more to them tomorrow.

Had a visit from DD this evening along with her b/f, dgs1 (11) and dgd2 (5). Lovely to see them all - and they left dgs1 behind for an overnighter. He's hard work (ASD/ADHD/Dyslexia/Dyspraxia) but has been an absolute :A this evening. Told him to get ready for bed (he's in the 'long-johns' that I bought him this winter), he snuggled down under a fleece blanket on the sofa and then I made him Hot Choccie with Christmas Tree-shaped Marshmallows and some toast with the crusts cut off. His face lit up cos his mum refuses to cut them off for him - but what else are Nanas for, if not to indulge the grandkids now and again :rotfl:. He's now tucked up in bed and, hopefully, will stay there till morning ;). It remains to be seen which one of us will be up first tomorrow .........

If the weather is OK, may try to take him out somewhere to help keep him occupied - otherwise, he'll hog the PC all day playing Minecraft :(.

I'll pop in again tomorrow, to catch up with everybody again - sleep well - Lilyplonk xxx
  • mmmmm..... wrote a reply here earlier and now can't find it. Think what I did was press the 'preview' button, saw the message and then went straight up to change my signature button without saving. Oh well, I'm not doing it again, can't even remember what most of it was!

Just a couple of things here yesterday and today: I dug out a brand new cushion pad I had bought last year (or the year before), found some pretty Winnie the Pooh fabric, and made my granddaughter a little cushion for the Ikea mini armchair we bought her for Christmas.

    So thats:

97 Cushion pad used for cushion
98 Fabric made into cushion cover

These will go out tomorrow when she comes.

Not much delcuttering going on here, place is nice and tidy from having viewers this morning (bar the cupboards, drawers etc. that things were shoved in at the last minute), so I might have a day off decluttering tomorrow and make some morsbags. That will get some fabric used up definitely. I need to make a dent in it, the blooming stuff seems to be breeding in the bag!

    Happy Sunday Declutterers!
