TrickyWicky, I do have sympathy for anyone who'd just give up trying to help. I experienced somethign similar today, except the people just were not having any of it. They'd heard about this new law "It was in the paper!", and they had to pay up. No ifs, not buts. I did suggest that if they had £50 to donate, they could give it to charity, or me, but they didn't appreciate that either. Nowt so queer as folk.
Anyway, I just wanted to post a quick thank you on behalf of those of us who do use the search function and then don't post. I don't recall whether I ever posted, even to thank the people here for helping us to keep our ££ for more urgent things, like food and heating bills. So here's a huge "Thanks" from me. A more comprehensive Thanks muchly" is already posted, bu tI thought a small one might be appropriate here.0 -

If you don't like helping people then don't bother helping them. It's as simple as that.0 -
Small11 - we need more stories like yours. If people came back and updated their original post about a PCN then newbies would see these amongst the experts.
I would also like to see a sticky with the results of appeals and those rare court cases e.g. Toothbrush and Cutts etc. Also where the PPC has for some reason won, if true, then not to dismiss but saying why they won. All this will reassure and inspire those new to the game.0 -

Read your comments on this thread and agree with you 100%. The thing is, if people are really worried, there is a wealth of info in just about every thread and all the good advice is saying the same thing.
So rather than waiting for specific replies to their post, reading other threads should give sufficient advice to 99% of people and cumulatively the number of previous advisers will outweigh the responses to any one thread.
So, Coupon-mad, keep on advising, buut don't waste your talents on groundhog day threads if they are driving you mad. Refer them to this thread as you suggest. :beer:0 -
A bit uncalled for.
Not really, in one of their posts CM was saying they were fed up with keep saying the same old thing to people. Well if thats the case, don't do it!
It's the UK remember? People here are naturally accepting and lazy about things. People don't vote the current mobs out of parliament, they don't protest, they don't to anything to protect themselves yet you expect people to educate themselves about private parking tickets? :rotfl:
Seriously, people will always come here asking these same questions. There is not point getting wound up about it is there.0 -

Is there anything in the forum administration that would bring up a message to anyone before they even enter this section? Ie you click the parking forum bit on the main page, then you are given a textbox, and a tick button to confirm you have read it, the box basically has all the same info.
I also have to say I mainly posted here because I read through the MSE article 'Fight Private Parking Tickets' - and since my ticket was not 'unfair' as such (I had stayed longer than the clearly marked maximum stay) and also left me with the impression that the BPA was some authority on Parking Fines rather than just a shady front for the scammers to legitimise their charges so imo, with all due respect to MSE, that is a part of the issue too. If they even put up the watchdog video on that article it would clarify the issue immensely. Legally I appreciate the need to use the term 'often unnenforcable' and 'often invalid' but this could be helped by some statistics (I can't find them now, but the miniscule percentage of these charges that are actually taken to court, and then won by the company)
Many thanks to those who have given the advice, I think having a .txt file on your desktop with all the relevant info ready to copy and paste is the way to go. :money:0 -
Another possibility is for there to be just one topic for people to post on PPC's, then there's more chance of newbies reading through it a bit.0
