So you want Driver 5.5 4th down Check you get the correct version (32 or 64 bit). Most are 32 bit so change that with the drop down arrow

That will let you test the printer, if it is good to go then we can look at what else is worth installing.

Well, santer - I might as well lift my post 26 more or less in toto and paste it here:
that small 'found new hardware' msg was along the right/h foot of page, with corresponding msg box, showing as 'copying files'at left/h foot of page, asking:

The File EE291__1.ICM on EPSON Stylus Photo RX420Series is needed.
Type the path where the file is located and then click OK.

I still don't know what a pathway is, to accurately type in. Typed 'downloads', but that didn't work, nor does EPSON.

Have spent some hours trying to make sense of googled results to 'What is a pathway'...can make neither head nor tail of it. There is nothing straightforward.

Start the printer install, check the printer is off.

When it asks about EE_291.ICM browse to where you saved the downloaded file, click to highlight the file, then click open.

Thankyou again santer. I'll have to leave it until Friday now. Wed. is prep. day for Spitlfields, early bed, on road c.0300, long day, back minuit+. Started 3 mths ago and it's good for me to mix with London each week.
