Is this what I've been doing wrong?
I have opened the files in every case, then gone onto download the next one.
That winzip thing came up every time. Did it, but it doesn't come up any more.
Small grey box now appears, headed:
OPEN FILE - SECURITY WARNING.
etc.etc, then
Type: Application
From: \ Documents and Settings\[my surname]\My Documents

Sorry santer-should I now find that file in My Documents, then try the next bit?
Well, can't seem to find it now, but I know I typed in that very thing[it also showed in greyscale earlier]hoping this was what pathway meant.
Have again done full search for EE291__1.ICM and it says there are no results to display???

Really don't understand now.

Click start, computer, local disc C

Look for an Epson folder, open that, it may have a few inside that to open until you see a list of files similar to the 18706eu folder.

If so, open the 5.5b (18706eu) folder to locate the EE291 file and hold the mouse over it so it highlights, then right click it, click copy.

Open the epson folder in C again, right click an empty part, click paste.

Try the installation or running the printer.

Under sprx420[inside epson]find win2000.

Opening this gives 49 things: 1 folder called SETUP and 48 things, looking like sheets of paper with top right cnr turned down and some 3 symbols logo in middle. They all begin with an upper case E,but not the EE291 file.

Also, my C thing is named: HDD[:C]. Have worked from this.

Hold on, I'll see if I spot anything of 5.5b - I do remember this and 18706eu.

If you have a folder where things are usually downloaded to, look for 5.5b or 18706eu there, if it isn't download it again.

Then go as post 23

With HDD [:C] you only need to click the Epson folder, then the RX425 folder, then the Windows 2000 folder. That is where you right click an empty part to click paste.

No need to open the set up folder.

Hello santer - hoping I can print something before the year ends.

Have just pasted that file into EPSON - post 23. Thankyou for getting me this far. Tried to print sth, but 'Welcome to fax wizard' comes up instead.

When I started computer, that small 'found new hardware' msg was along the right/h foot of page, with corresponding msg box, showing as 'copying files'at left/h foot of page, asking:

The File EE291__1.ICM on EPSON Stylus Photo RX420Series is needed.
Type the path where the file is located and then click OK.

I still don't know what a pathway is, to accurately type in. Typed 'downloads', but that didn't work, nor does EPSON.

Have spent some hours trying to make sense of googled results to 'What is a pathway'...can make neither head nor tail of most of it. There is nothing straightforward.

Now trying to 'add printer' again, santer. It's searching endlessly for it - 30 mins now.

I'm only trying this because windows doesn't seem to have installed it automatically, as per the para in the Wizard box.

Recorded msg says 'office is now closed', then citing office hours, for which today and now is valid. Option 2 then says Hold for operator, which I suspect I do in vain.

Their support page says 'No results were found...' etc. when I type in model no.

Their chat is online at the moment, they should let you know if there phones are being answered.

Have to go out now, but trying to upload am again stuck with 'file name not found',even though I saw things flying over[little green blocks filling line]to a folder.How do I know what file name to enter for it to find, santer?
