I've been mentally planning for next week to see if I can get away with not shopping until the end of the week. Not sure how long the veggies will last (quantity as much as freshness) but at least now I'm not worrying about getting snowed in if the forecast is right for tomorrow - I know we can surive for several days. And I'm pretty sure we have enough to live off lentil soup until spring!
If you think your veggies won't last until the end of the week, it would be worth prepping and freezing them, at least they won't get wasted then.

    SOS!!

I roasted a chicken on Sunday and stripped the carcass (for rubber chicken), and stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
    Is it OK to eat?
I want to make a curry with it?

    Does it smell bad?

Does it taste bad? (Just a small sample, just in case!)

What temperature does your fridge run at?

    Well done everyone

Still sticking to the plan, we had sausages, mash, greens, broccoli and sprouts today. Easy tea tomorrow, poached eggs and beans on toast.
We went shopping yesterday and it was so easy, I just used my meal plan to make my list. Bought a few store cupboard items so we are ok for a week.

    Take care in the snow.

Yay! Trust your eyes, nose and instinct :D
  • Monday: chicken goujons, new potatoes, veg
Eaten as planned, and we even ate up some leftover readymade meringues I had lying round after I bought then as a pudding option for Christmas Day

    Tuesday: chicken pasta bake
Yum. I'd forgotten how much I like this.

Wednesday: bread and soup (frozen from previous home-cooking)
Made it fresh in the end as I had some leeks and potatoes that needed eating up. Went down very well, they're all soup fans.

    Thursday: pasta with bolognaise sauce
Delicious. Two portions frozen for a rainy day.

Friday: stir fry using slightly out of date sauce from the cupboard
Not sure this (or the rest of the weekend's planning) will happen as I promised to let my kids cook. Don't really care what thy cook as long as we already have the ingredients. Feeling a bit guilty for going shopping (sans list) and buying loads more when I only nipped out for pre-snowing-in milk, bread flour and fruit and veg. Oops.

    Saturday: pizza rolls
Sunday: no idea but I'll think of something.
