Tonights thai green curry was lovely, if a little bit hot. So followed by yoghurt for dessert! Haven't quite managed to eat as planned so far though... I've intended to do quiche 3 times so far this year - first time ended up eating out, second time it was switched in for pizza but OH wanted the pizza so switched back. 3rd time was Monday but we had more leftovers than I thought. Having said that, maybe I planned leftovers when I put the plan on here but the gammon looked teeny so I decided to do quiche. But then the gammon went further than I thought so the quiche got sidelined again!

So tomorrow, I'm gonna make myself make a quiche. I have half a pack of ready made pastry in the fridge that needs using so I really must get on and make something with it. And there's half a dozen eggs that could use a bit of attention. I WILL DO IT.

(watch this space - will probably find something else to make from the storecupboard :rotfl:)
  • Well I stuck to the meal plan, but then I also nipped into Waitrose for some fruit and milk (it's a long way to Aldi) and ended up spending £36 on various bits and bobs not working to any list at all. I'm particularly ashamed of picking up some egg noodles because I was sure I'd run out, and got home to find a pack and a half already in the drawer.

    Week 3 UPDATE II

Continuing with operation make space in the freezer so it will close easily.

F 11th HM pizza, garlic baguette & salad (pepperoni/ham/chicken & mozzarella from the freezer). Eaten as planned. Supermarket didn't have the own brand bases I wanted, so had to make do with the Nap0lina ones. I didn't enjoy this as much as I would have with the other base :o

S 12th Teryaki chicken, rice & prawn crackers. With mini satay sticks & mini spring rolls to start (chicken, satay & spring rolls from freezer). Eaten as planned but didn't have the starters. Instead of plain rice, I did 'unfried rice' basically all the ingredients for fried rice, but not fried :p

S 13th Chicken, roast potatoes, cauli/broc/carrot & gravy (chicken & roast potatoes from the freezer). Will be eating this as planned, as I have already got the chicken out of the freezer! lol

    M 14th Chicken Arribiata pasta
(need to use up some cooked chicken chunks bought for sandwiches with a use by date of today) OMG I enjoyed this soooo much :D

T 15th Chilli & rice (HM chilli 'ready-meal' from the freezer). Eaten as planned.

W 16th Chicken kiev, new potatoes & salad Due to be eaten shortly, currently being cooked.

    T 17th Paprika pork & tagliatelli

Not going to beat myself up if these meals don't happen on these days, but do get used this week, or if are swopped for other cupboard/freezer stores with no additional spend. :A

Good luck fellow meal planners for the week ahead :D

Doing nicely this week, even if I fail tomorrow it will still be a 6/7 week, which is a win in my eyes! Currently planning & shopping listing for next week
  • Monday: chicken goujons, new potatoes, veg
Eaten as planned, and we even ate up some leftover readymade meringues I had lying round after I bought then as a pudding option for Christmas Day

    Tuesday: chicken pasta bake
Yum. I'd forgotten how much I like this.

Wednesday: bread and soup (frozen from previous home-cooking)
Made it fresh in the end as I had some leeks and potatoes that needed eating up. Went down very well, they're all soup fans.

    Thursday: pasta with bolognaise sauce
Friday: stir fry using slightly out of date sauce from the cupboard
    Saturday: pizza rolls
Sunday: no idea but I'll think of something.

    Meal Plan starting 16th:

    W 16th Steak & Kidney/S&K Pud (both from Fr) + Veg. = done.
Th 17th Chicken Pasta Bake +/- garlic bread
Fr 18th Chicken Pasta Bake +/- garlic bread
Sa 19th L/O Chiecken Casserole from Fr. with udon noodles.
Sun 20th L/O Fsih Pie for me & L/O roast chicken, mash and veg for OH - from freezer.
M 21st Fray Bentos Pie from cupboard and mash
    T 22nd ? Homemade Pizza or Pie & Mash.

Mostly we are eating stuff that is already in the freezer or in the house, trying to declutter our freezers and cupboards! Then hopefully we can be more organised with restocking. It is helpful we have a decent stock of seasonings, herbs etc though. Am desperately going to try and stay away from the supermarket this week - will see how I manage, wish me luck!! lol.

Thanks everyone for the inspiration - I am loving all the different meal suggestions!:T

I've been mentally planning for next week to see if I can get away with not shopping until the end of the week. Not sure how long the veggies will last (quantity as much as freshness) but at least now I'm not worrying about getting snowed in if the forecast is right for tomorrow - I know we can surive for several days. And I'm pretty sure we have enough to live off lentil soup until spring!
