Hahaha, i am always doing this! I made a fab Paella not so long back, but cant for the life of me remember what i put in it!!

With the chilli this evening, i fried onions and garlic and mince. Drained the fat off.
Added a tin of chopped tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans (drained and washed) then half a tin of water.
Some chopped carrot, one of those knorr chicken stock pots, roughly about 3/4 tsp of ground cumin and the same again of mild chilli powder...i think thats it?
Oh, i also added some tomato puree. And a tsp of marmite.
Left to simmer for....about 30mins i think it was.

OMG, i remembered, now i have to go and write it down in my folder!!

Oh-and i added some frozen peas in the last 5 mins, and served it all with Lemon rice :)

I stuck too it last week and I am very proud of DH who stuck too it over the weekend (weekend away for me)We are having jacket potatoes, beans and cheese for tea. I'll make a sponge pudding and custard for afters.
It's a snow day for us, so had bacon/egg sandwich for lunch. The cupboards are well stocked so wont need to go out and can stick to meal plan for the next few days. The car is snowed in so if the snow stays for awhile might have to re-jig one or two meals as I've planned for 2 weeks.

Meal planning is saving us money. DH and I were just having a chat about how it is working. We both agree it is much easier, I have a list on the family noticeboard. so everyone in the family knows what we are having. We are wasting next to nothing,( I have altered odd meals to use up for eg potatoes)
During this snowy weather we have not run out of anything we need for our planned meals, this is because I use my plan to organize my shopping list. I now shop on Sunday and Wednesday. This means that I am not popping in to the supermarket after work and spending a lot more than I need to. I didn't shop this Sunday (away) but thanks to my meal plan bought what I needed last Wednesday.

A big thank you for all your meal ideas and tips.

Feeling quietly pleased with myself for sticking to last nights plan against all odds. I had a really carppy day at work yesterday and couldn't get away until over an hour later than finishing time. I knew OH had also had a carppy day working on the house so there wasn't going to be any tea and sympathy waiting for me when I got home - more likely to be all about him (which it was)! Drove home thinking all I want to do is get a takeaway. No cooking for me. Really not in the mood. But part of OH's bad mood stems from needing to spend ££££s on a new boiler. So can't be frivolous and treat to a takeaway just because. I scoured the cupboards, fridge, freezer looking for something easier (more appealing) to cook than planned meal because I REALLY didn't want to cook. In the end, it was easier to just stick to the meal plan and get on with it!

If there hadn't actually been a plan in place, the scouring would have come to naught and the expensive indian round the corner would have relieved me of £20+!
