Mmmm i am in 'post- pizza heaven'. I love HM pizza and salad, and it was a perfect way to ease back into a full on week
Now, tomorrows dinner will be tarragon chicken with asparagus and coconut rice. I have never tried it before and am a bit hesitant...we'll see how it goes (might end up with beans on toast)0 -
M - [STRIKE]Vegetable lasagne[/STRIKE] (no, had pasta, sweetcorn and tuna)
T - [STRIKE]Salmon fillets, rice and veg[/STRIKE] (think I'll do Monday's veg lasagne as the salmon fillets are frozen so won't hurt, whereas the veg will go past)
W - Lamb chops and veg
T - Tuna pasta bake (think I'll do Tuesday's food as had pasta tuna pasta tonight instead)
UPDATE:
Did the vegetable lasagne and it was gorgeous - extra bonus is enough left for me for lunch tomorrow :T! Took a while to do but it was time well spent - DD came out with me in the kitchen and did chocolate brownies which went down extremely well *rubs full tummy happily*!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
I am wanting to try and cut down on the amount of food we throw away. I defrosted our freezer yesterday and have made a list of what was in there with the aim of using it all up before I go out and fill it up again! I have made my first ever meal plan and without buying anything extra I have been able to plan for 2 weeks with what we have already got in! I have to say there's a few mismatched meals that we wouldn't normally have but heyho! We'll give it a try to use everything up!
I work shifts so need to be more organised!
Today's evening meal has been off the plan so its so far so good! I just hope the hubby and kids can put up with this next 2 weeks to get everything used up!
Any tips re meal planning would be helpful!

I do my mealplans a month at a time. To start off you need to know what you've got in the freezer and cupboards. Using those things as a starting point add them in through the plan to use them up, and then gradually fill in the days in between.
I often do the plan by putting in Sunday roasts, the leftovers are then used to make additional meals which are either used that week or frozen for later in the month.
When that's all done you shouldn't have too many gaps left in the plan, so just put in some of your favourite meals to complete.

Wow! That's really impressive Mrs_T_M :T I've got a long way to go before I can get to monthly plansI do my mealplans a month at a time. Ohhh that's a great starting point, thanks!
I have printed off another calendar which I thought I might mark up with what I've had at the end of each month and see if I can try to use them as the basis for monthly plans:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Wk 2 UPDATE II
F 4th [STRIKE] Chicken Noodles with stir-fry veg & prawn crackers.[/STRIKE] Chinese takeaway
All kinds of failing going on for me today. OH had a mini strop and said that a meal where all of the components come from the freezer can in no way be considered a birthday treat. Then I felt pants as I've been back at work after being off for over a fortnight and I think I've lost all my immunity to the bugs so feel terrible - worse than last week! and decided a chinese was in order. Usually order chicken fried rice, chips, noodles and salt & pepper shredded chicken, but after another strop from OH we (read I) was brave and ordered something different. Really glad I did as I soooo enjoyed it. Got chicken in black bean sauce and could only manage half so the other half has gone in the freezer for another day. So instead of stuff out of the freezer stuff has gone in :rotfl:
S 5th [STRIKE] Tapas[/STRIKE] Chicken Noodles - Planning on cooking a meal for me and my OH as its his birthday this week. Lots of little dishes including: Patas Bravas, Chicken & Chorizo stew, Chicken Rice, Spanish Meatballs, Salad, Pitta bread, Fish Cakes and Ham & Potato Croquettes. Most of the stuff for this meal is in the freezer already (apart from salad stuff).
Now becomes chicken noodles! Tapas components live another day using up precious space in the freezer :rotfl: I don't mind really its himself's birthday after all, and money came out of a savings account for such things so hasn't impacted the grocery budget in anyway.
S 6th Pulled Pork with HM BBQ sauce, HM wedges, coleslaw & salad. Eaten as planned.
2nd week in a row I've missed out a day! d'oh. Maybe its because I was embarrassed as the pork was coming out of the freezer :rotfl:
M 7th [STRIKE]Chicken Curry, Pilau rice & poppadums.[/STRIKE] Jerk Chicken, Rice & Salad
You guessed it already in the [STRIKE]tardis[/STRIKE] *cough freezer! Last week when we had friends round there was a portion of curry that went in the freezer, OH can have that and I'll do him a fresh portion of rice. The time before that when we had friends round for a curry, there were two smaller portions of curry & rice frozen for me, I'll have one of those, and an easy night :rotfl:
OK so I didn't think the meal plan through enough. Had fresh chicken for Chicken Noodles and salad stuff for Pulled Pork, so logically this meal would be Jerk Chicken, to save freezing the chicken then defrosting later, and using up the salad stuff before it goes off. So did a little switching around as the Curry will wait until Thursday as it's in the freezer.
T 8th Spag Bol, Bol is... heck there's a lot from the freezer this week :T also my WI day, so try to have pasta on a Tuesday as himself can usually remember to put the pot on the stoveEaten as planned.
W 9th [STRIKE]Sausage Casserole, Crispy potatoes, green beans & spinach[/STRIKE] Chicken Curry, Pilau rice & poppadoms., Sausages from yep the freezer  Crispy potatoes currently in Asda's freezers until I buy them :rotfl:
Someone forgot to get the sausages out of the freezer in timeNow having sausage casserole on Thursday.
T 10th [STRIKE]Jerk Chicken with rice/peas/spring onion.[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Chicken Curry, Pilau rice & poppadoms.[/STRIKE] Sausage Casserole, Crispy potatoes, green beans & spinach
Well that's another week planned, and no more scratching my head trying to work out what the heck to cook when I get in. My mission, (quite clearly from this weeks plan) is to try and make some space in the Freezer :rotfl: Have a good week guys
Had to jiggle it about this week, I think rather than assigning a day to a meal, I will do a list of meals, and then cross them off the list each day. Relatively pleased as we stuck to it, and 6 of 7 meals were eaten in the week they were planned. Not necessarily on the day planed but oh well, live and learn!0
