I am starting to consider planning lunches too, as the kids are back to school next week and i often miss lunch because i cant be bothered to make it as there is just me. I think a plan would help me to make sure i have lunch everyday.

I think thus is a great idea, I'm the same at tge moment , not eating lunch but if it is planned then I can buy specifically for it. Right, I'm off to plan lunches abs possibly breakfasts too.

Some changes to the mealplan. We had a viewing on our hosue yesterday, and in all the preparation for that I forgot to lift chicken out of the freezer  so that had to change. Today MIL is away so no Sunday lunch as usual, so we will have soup for lunch and a 'dinner' tonight made with steak casserole (from the freezer). The rest of the plan looks like this:-

F 4th: Veggie pasta (and garlic bread for DH)
S 5th: L: sandwich (Me & DH)/fishfingers, veg and chips followed by jelly & ice cream and then cake (DS - at his party)
    S 5th: D [STRIKE]Home made chinese (me and DH)/ beans on toast (DS[/STRIKE]) McDonalds
    S 6th: L: [STRIKE]Sunday lunch at MILs [/STRIKE]Soup and crusty rolls
S 6th: D: Steak casserole, mash roasties and veg
Southern fried chicken in pittas with salad and chips
Baked potatoes with cheese and beans
Chilli & rice (me & DH)/ boiled eggs and soldiers (DS)(light tea before kick boxing)
Salmon stirfry & noodles (me)/chinese style chicken curry with egg fried rice(DH)
Spaghetti bolognese & garlic bread for DS & DH

    Morning all.
This evenings meal will be HM sweet and sour.
I am starting to consider planning lunches too, as the kids are back to school next week and i often miss lunch because i cant be bothered to make it as there is just me. I think a plan would help me to make sure i have lunch everyday.

Leftovers are great for that - for some reason quite a lot of our main meals end up with a single portion leftover which I have for a lunch over the next couple of days. I also deliberately cook extra for things like chilli and portion them in little baggies so that they can be done in pitas with cheese or with jackets etc.

  • Some changes to my plan too... Swapping my two Sundays as OH not around on the 20th, so making my roast next week instead. Otherwise going on plan strongly!

Used some leftover streaky bacon with scrambled eggs this morning, which made everyone quite pleased in the house this am. Also picked up a great recipe for pea and onion risotto which my friend cooked for me last night which is quite moneysaving!

Thurs 3 - HM shepherds pie (lamb from freezer)
Fri 4 - Out, but OH had leftover pie
Sat 5 - Visiting friends so they'll feed me
Sun 6 - Sausage and mash
Mon 7 - Grilled chicken (from drumsticks and thighs in freezer, deboned and marinaded on Sunday night) with Leon pilaff rice
Tues 8 - Jamie's proper blokes fusilli sausage pasta
Weds 9 - HM chilli (beef from freezer)
Thurs 10 - Out, but OH can have leftover chilli
Fri 11 - Hotdogs, rolls and wedges (don't judge me, love to eat like a child sometimes!)
Sat 12 - HM chorizo and artichoke pizza, salad
Sun 13 - Lemon roast chicken with dauphinoise potatoes and broccoli
Mon 14 - HM turkey dansak and rice
Tues 15 - Slow cooked honey and garlic chicken (leftover chicken from freezer, and enough to freeze remainder for weekend)
Weds 16 - Nigella's Mustard and cider pork chops with gnocci
Thurs 17 - Chicken kiev, wedges and peas
Fri 18 - Beans on toast
Sat 19 - Leftover honey and garlic chicken with salad
Sun 20 - Chicken fajitas (chicken from freezer)

I can finally join in due to me finally getting this coming weeks menu on paper!

These are just for dinners. DH typically takes leftovers to work for his lunches, and I will typically have a baked potato or beans and rice for my lunches.

Tonight - HM pizza with a salad
Monday - Vegetarian curry in the slow cooker with rice, naan and baked onion bahjis
Tuesday - BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with sweetcorn and potato wedges
    Wednesday - Chicken pot pie
Thursday - Chicken Marsala with pasta and a salad
    Friday - Jambalaya
Saturday - Chilli with beans over rice

I don't need to buy much for this week, which is wonderful as well.

Thank you to everyone for providing me with good examples and great meal ideas!

Evening all, I would live to join in, my freezer is bulging with goodies so will aim to use a lot of that up. Have never done meal plannning before so for my first week I will just plan for me and OH, some days we eat stuff the kids won't eat or they eat earlier due to activities/having friends around but hopefully I can gradually aim to meal plan for the whole family :)

Sooooo here is this weeks meal plan

Sun - roast chicken joint, roasties, yorkshires, veg and gravy
Mon - steak with jacket potatoes and veg
    Tues - spaghetti bolognese
Weds - curry (using l/o chicken or turkey from freezer) with rice and nan
    Thurs - omelettes with salad
Friday - baked potatoes with various fillings? (this may change though as I suspect we may get a takeaway  so may be carried over to sat)

All of the meals I have planned are using stuff I have in so I shouldn't have to shop much this week apart from fresh fruit/bread/milk/salad and packed lunch bits for dd. fingers crossed I stick to it :)

Sticking to it, lasagne and salad for tea, using mince from the freezer. I went shopping today, with my list and bought the fresh stuff I will need up until Wednesday. Will shop after work on Wed for the fresh stuff up until Sunday.

  • Had a great chilli for tea and the leftovers were supposed to be for lunch tomorrow with jacket potatoes. However, my sister stayed to have tea with us leaving only one portion of leftovers - so she has taken it with her for her own lunch tomorrow.

We are now thinking about going to the Lego centre in Manchester tomorrow though so will take a picnic.
  • So.. My meal plan for this week

Monday - Jacket Tatties + Cheesy Beans
    Tuesday - Take Out
    Wednesday - Sausage + Mash + Veg
    Thursday - Chicken Pasta Bake
    Friday - Stew + Dumplings + Carrots
Saturday - Sausage + Pasta ( Spag Bol but with chopped up sausages instead of mince )
Sunday - HM Pizza + Chips

Also planning on buying 2/3 chickens this week, Using my left over veg, and making pies I can put on the menu next week
