Hi everyone.
Ok so here is my meal plan for the next week. Only put evening meals down as the lunches are mostly sandwich/soup ect
6th sausage casserole, mash
7th leftovers of above
8th beans on toast
9th poached eggs on toat, or omelette (depending on my mood)
10th bacon and potato casserole
11th ribs, duck pancake kit, HM Chinese style beef noodles with curry sauce (DD not with us, all in freezer ready :j)
12th leftover bacon potato casserole from 10th
The night where we are just having a small evening meal DD is in nursery and will have had a big cooked lunch and isn't as hungry in evenings. Usually make a big meal but it always goes to waste, so have decided to start making lighter evening meal to reduce on the waste ect
Thinking I would cook a plain sponge in a large tray and portion it out, blast for a few secs in micro in the eve to heat, and serve with custard and fruit. Cheap to do and feels like a small treat. Also have a lot of bread flour in cupboard so will make HM crusty bread to go with casserole.
Have everything in ready to do the above, so plan is to have a £0 spend week . Wish me luck, can't remember the last time I didn't go to a food store at least once in a week and buy extras we don't need!0 -
Oh dear...we have fallen at the first week I'm afraid. Both myself and my husband have taken unwell with colds and bad chests and our wee one is teething. So the meal planning I had submitted has been overtaken by toast and more toast plus some tomato soup. Am going to have a look tonight and re-jig the rest of this weeks and merge with next weeks. It has taught me an important lesson that my cupboard should be stocked with some easy comfort foods for when we are not feeling well.i guess it is unusual for us both to be this poorly at the same time! What do you keep in your cupboard/freezer for emergencys like illnessGC = £150.58/£2500

I always have things like soup, beans, spaghetti, pasta sauce and pasta in. In the freezer there is always fishfingers, pizza, bread, garlic bread, oven chips and usually mince and sausages
Since starting meal planning I also have meat for most of the next 3 weeks frozen, always need to shop for more bread, milk, fruit and veg.

On tomorrows menu is HM Fish & Chips with mushy peas...might go and see how i can make my frozen peas mushy! BB (my lovely 7yr old cat) is sniffing around the sealed at cat -proof container of white fish that is currently sat on the kitchen side defrosting...she has a naughty glint in her eye...
My mealplan for this week is sausage casserole in the SC (the smells are driving me nuts but has two hours to go:)), Spag bol in the SC and will freeze the leftovers. Brought mushrooms for both the casserole and the spag bol in bulk so will use the left overs to make home made mushroom soup! yummy!__________________________

This made me laugh - my cat does this. tips his head on at the side and you can almost see what is going through his mind.... I have come home to chicken on the floor as I forgot to defrost it in the oven whilst I was at work... needless to say have never forgotten again!!
Hehehe, she KNOWS she'll get some eventually, as i am such a softie
So, the fish did indeed survive the night and i really should get off my bottom and start making it. Found a lovely recipe for mushy peas, but will make it with semi skimmed milk instead of double cream!0 -

Everything defrosting here has to go in the microwave .... no chance of survival with a dog and 2 cats otherwise :rotfl:
Have to watch big cat when I've made stock .... I've caught him with his head in the bowl as it's cooling on more than 1 occasion!:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
