This is quite true Igamogam but on the other hand higher staff labour costs = higher prices (allegedly
)
If only.......IMHO big supermarkets are second only to bankers in the ethics and morals league;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Heeeeelllllllooooo out there!
Long time, no see but I have been busy busy busy
I was offered another job but didn't like the sound of it so declined, the upshot is that I have made the decision to quit ma job (not just yet though) :T I cannot wait so today I am at week 66 and counting :j I have spent most of my day thinking " thank goodness I only have to do this task 65 more times and then I'm outa here" :rotfl:
I have a grand master plan but I will need to save like a crazy woman in order to pay myself a small income over the 20 months I plan on being out of the jobs market. I need money for courses as well and my job will be to study study and study some more. The quiet library will be my place of work :shhh:
Elsewhere;
We are going on our holibobs in less than 2 weeks :j I've got £500 spending money saved and so has the husband (better not spend it all though but don't tell him that
). I will finally get to visit CAT- Centre of Alternative Technology and I am so excited I am fit to burst
Well, hoping everyone is doing OK. It will soon be August and the nights are getting shorter already, make way for lovely snuggly nights in with lots of cuddles :T #heartwarming.
Hoping to post again sooner rather than later!Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Hope you enjoy CAT - I would be interested what you think
I have been a few times over the years and seen it evolve - not a million miles away from us. Last time was about 18 months ago - I like the gardens/growing projects - but have to say after last visit havent been in a rush to go back Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hi Igamogam.
I will be sure to let you know what CAT's like, I suppose it's a little different in that I am thinking of doing my Masters with them so I have a slightly different interest for visiting.
I'm hoping the boys will enjoy it as well.
As the OU motto goes "Learn and Live" :j
Have a fantastic day everybody, make the most of what you have

Good luck with the study! I keep putting off the PhD ( well EdD technically)............its the cost more than anything. I am trying to persuade my employers to pay as I wont be giving up work whilst I am doing itBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Thanks Igamogam

Hope you can get your employer to see the benefits of paying for your PhD eh?
Today has been interesting I think. Had the auditors in asking questions about a few things, mainly jobs which I do so I have a feeling HO is looking to take these little tasks to the centralised HQ :j:j maybe all is not lost re getting made redundant then. It would give me the money I need to follow my dreams.
Shouldn't talk about it too much in case it doesn't happen, I will be soooo disappointed - though as I said I do have my exit strategy.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Well hello out there!
I was looking over the MSc course I want to take and went off looking at books about what I want to do. I found exactly what I need on Amazonia so spent £27 on what will turn out to be one of the most important books that I will ever read.
I cannot wait for my purchase to turn up :j I will read it from cover to cover as soon as it's in my possession and I don't want to miss a single word of it.
On a down note, I read today that America is trying to make it illegal to be homeless and living on the streets. I hope they are planning on building or renovating existing run down properties then otherwise the jails will be very full of 'street people'.
The trouble is our laws tend to be closely the same as America so it doesn't surprise me if we will see similar over here.
A year ago I began telling people of my vision to empower homeless people by building and getting them involved with building semi-supported housing projects and communities, a stop gap to help improve their lives and show that there are still some people who care what happens to their fellow man.
There are plenty of big businesses out there who have land banks either because there was a grand plan to expand or to stop competitors expanding. There is absolutely no credible reason why these banks of land cannot be put to good use, even if it was a temporary arrangement of 3 or 5 years, it would be a gesture. It would be a meaningful gesture at that.
I applaud those companies who give some of the local homeless people a job and food, or those recently released from prison the opportunity of work - but it is not enough. There is a need for much more to be done.
This is another reason why I must continue on my quest for knowledge, I have others to help so I need to try my very best to make it happen in some form or other. Maybe others will come up with better ideas, or how I can improve my own but as long as it works then I am not stubborn nor a glory hunter - I will leave the credit to others as long as happens.
That was your thought for the day :rotfl:Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
OOooo I just knew people would be watching, especially the ones who only talk about doing good for others once they've been reminded by reading my posts.
Too much me me me, though I can see where it invariably comes from.
I am soooo pleased that I can think for myself and am allowed to be the creative, free-thinking individual that I am because I can see the big picture instead of living a closed existence dictated to by the constraints of money.
Money will only be a drag if you believe it has power or significance - neither of which I do really so I am a 'Free bird'
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?.....

Woooo-hooooo my book has arrived, my book has arrived :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
I will be burying myself in it's contents and I have a plan to **try** to make my house into a more economically eco friendly home.

Hellllloooo my lovely diary :j:j I'm sooo glad to be back from my holiday :T:T
Well we went to CAT (centre of alternative technology) and it is a bit strange. It's as though it doesn't quite know what it wants to be so a tad confusing. If I think on I will email them to give a bit of business advice as I think they need it
The food was lovely there mind you, veggie curry - yummy!
Spent all of my money on the boys and activities so am now skinteroonie, we had loads of fun and went to New Quay on Thursday to watch the dolphins swimming.
The doggie enjoyed herself too so was worth taking her.
OK now I have to turn my attention to saving money for my uni courses. I need £860 by 5th Sept so better get my nose to the grindstone
