Hi dfw321 - at least some good has come out of my chunterings :D

Never thought of the caravan idea tbh, must have a look into that thank you.

Well all is not lost re the courses, there are 2 courses I can take in Feb :T it does mean overall my Hons degree will be delayed by a year, though I can claim my degree without Hons in the same timeframe as before so will still be able to say I have a degree and I will see if that's good enough to do the MSc I want to do if I can show lots of enthusiasm for the subject :)

    There's always a positive side.

Those caravans are really expensive, nice though :)
I think I would be looking at an ex holiday park static van though if I went down that route.

Going back to my courses I have the main book that is used on the Masters course I want to take so between Sept to Feb I can study it and ingest all of its contents - win/win :T

Agree with comments re CAT - I think its lost its way a bit but food is great and service very slow and food cold when busy :(

God luck with the degree course - my DD1 did her degree in a not too dissimilar field to what you are studying - did her pre course research very well and got herself lined up with a company "come back with a good degree" She went back with a first and the answer was "we dont take on anybody now without a masters and experience" Signed up for Masters but changed her mind at last minute - now working PT and taking NVQs in a related subject to get experience - totally disillusioned with academia and is looking for an apprenticeship course!

    Hi Igamogam,

That's disappointing for your daughter :( hopefully she will succeed by going down an alternative route, I think you need to set your sights on a masters minimum if you go down the university route these days as there are so many people going to uni now.

I'm hoping not to have to stop there - funds permitting, but I'm not going to worry about that atm :)

No. There are TOO MANY people going to university now and some youngsters are just beginning to catch on - the whole 'transferable skills' carp annoys me too

You can get on a law degree course with 2 E's at the moment so I am pretty much disillusioned with academia too! I have 2 friends who are professors and have worked very hard to get where they are and both are seriously thinking about leaving their university posts because every year they have having to lower standards to meet targets - madness.

I have an assistant working with me who has a degree ( not needed for the job she does) but employed 'because she has a good degree' Bearing in mind I work in the field of education and her degree is in Childhood Studies ( really ?? ) I had to explain to her what a verb is and constantly have to pull her up on her spelling. She didn't know the difference between 2D and 3D shapes - in fact couldn't name a 3D shape and as far as I can understand believes zombies exist because she has seen films with zombie characters - I kid you not! She is a lovely girl but not academic in any sense of the word and yet she has a piece of paper from an established university that says she is capable of rigorous academic study...............

OK off my soap box :o

That's what I was getting at lol. I think when Polytechnics transferred over to Unis the trouble began :( not good news for future clients if you only need 2 grade E passes to study law I would say. There used to be a girl in work who had a degree in jewellery making! She made a lot of stuff with beads, very demanding on the brain you know :rotfl:Nice girl but a bit la-la.

As for the Zombie thing - that's not good nor is the circle and sphere stuff, it must be frustrating to say the least! the more I learn about people the more I prefer my dog :rotfl:

    Hello John!

I'm very weary tonight as I've had a traumatic day :(

I had to go to the capital of Wales - trauma no1 - and I do not travel very well at all, even short distances.

At the clinic I needed to have an MRI scan first - trauma no2 (major). As soon as I went into that tube I felt really panicky but tried my hardest to stick it out. It was noisy, really loud even with ear plugs in, and it was really unsettling. The only part I could put up with was when the scanner sounded like the old dot-matrix printers, because there was a rhythm it wasn't so bad. In the end I had had enough and pressed the buzzer to be taken out.

I was absolutely shaking and went into the changing room and cried. It just came from nowhere, but I was so pleased not to be inside that flipping machine!

Finally I had to have an ultrasound scan - trauma no3 (minor).
This I could put up with apart from the discomfort in my shoulder as the Doctor was getting a good look inside my shoulder. Turns out I've got bursitis and physio might get rid of it.

I was glad to get home. Oh, I can claim back 40 miles as well :)

They managed to get 2 scans of my spine so hoping they have enough info so I don't have to go through that again :eek:_pale_

Not very money saving I know but I will be compensated and having the treatment paid by the insurance company takes a bit of strain off the NHS.

Blame the idiot driver too busy chattering to see my Mondeo estate car or the looong line of traffic before her!

Sympathise with the MRI - I have an annual one on my head - brain tumour. Think I have got use to it now but I always keep my eyes closed and take my own music to listen to!

    Hi Igamogam

There wasn't any opportunity to take any music and nothing to look at either. My DH said that when he went to Merthyr there's a mirror so you can see out of the scanner but this one just had a light.

I pity you having to have a yearly one though :(

This was done at a private clinic and they said they have another clinic with an open scanner if I have to have another one. Hoping not though.
