What about savoury nuts. I just paid 4 quid for these & when I go them realised I could make them myself for a fraction of the cost.

Will catch up, but need to pick your brains!

Can anyone suggest something that I can quickly & easily make that can go in jars. Got to do about 20, am going to fill 1/2 of them with fudge, but some may prefer savoury type. Need for Monday evening, so only have the weekend to sort out :(

I was going to suggest some quick and easy home made cheese straws (could be made into cheesy shapes if preferred) as per my MIL's fail-safe recipe, but I think Quidsy's suggestion sounds great :T

    mornig all
hugs and good wishes to those who need them
very wise words pigpen, i think sometimes you face something with your kids that makes you question how you will ever come through it BUT they do grow up and you adapt and things that once seemed irreparable can evolve into a relationship again and sometimes grow even stronger because of it. you wont forget the hurt BUT they are your kids so you get on with it. Thing about kids is you can love them without sometimes liking their behaviour.

thank you for asking about the craft fayre nanamia, to be honest it really was a waste of time, i spent about 6 months knitting and sewing was there about 5 hours and made about £9! luckily a neighbour had already bought 2 baby cardis off me and given me more than id asked so id already got £10 float from that but DH questioned why i bothered putting all that effort in. Theres another fayre at a local school friday night im tempted to try again but ill have to pay £10 for the table but i suppose if i dont try i wont sell anything.
local hairdresser has said i can put the flower brooches for the memorial garden in her shop and some of the bags id made if i want. which is really kind of her.

im having a wrapping and sorting session this morning, trying to get all the stuff that needs to go in the post done so i cant walk down to the post office this afty.

    hugs all stay warm.

Ive stopped seeing craft fairs as a way to make money, and instead as a way to advertise my business. It is very disheartening, but take comfort in the fact that you did sell some, so your bits are obviously lovely :)

thanks for your wisdom. i have said to my daughter exactly the same as you. shes always welcome and i love her so much. its so raw and i feel like it will never get better. it will , i know it will and time will heal it. i think for us it is because it was so sudden.... we were playing board games and laughing as a family the night before and i didnt see it coming. i have bad days and good days and an awful lot of pretending and false smiles for my boy. he told me last night theres no point in ever going on holiday as he wont have anyone to play with, they were very close and she loved playing the same games as him spending 8 hours in the pool on holiday just messing about. i can never get it back. i see the father of the boyfriend who has let them live together around town and i just want to scream you have my beautiful daughter. they are so mucky and have no standards at all. in fact the dad has gone on holiday abroad so the two kids are alone in the house both 16. grrrr
thankyou again. its not that im looking for sympathy im just in the darkest place ever and still trying to make head or tail of it all.

We were the same.. the night before she went shopping with OH, had dinner with us, did all her usual stuff and then disappeared.

her bf lived in a shared house with 2 people I didn't know and his family are rather scratty as well. DD2 was distraught and the 3 small girls were really unsettled by it and then her idiot dad started screaming and carrying on and we had the police involved and it was awful..

If they are alone in the house I'd pop round to make sure they were ok.. though if she is still coming round that is a bonus on what we had. I didn't see her from the October until the week before Christmas.. she wasn't given an invite to come on boxing day, she was ordered to come! she just sent birthday cards via my sister for the 3 girls. DD1's OH was 24 though.

She will grow up and learn.

Available from £3.01 as 'used-very good' condition. Might be worth a try for those who want a cheap but non-digital version and/or can't get to a library.

    Xmas Saver!
    edited 5 December 2013 at 5:13PM
Am at work, but just found out I have a houseful of kids. Dds school was shut early. The next town (kids go to dds school ) has been evacuated. They expect the tide to be higher than in 1953. ( people died that year). It is expected to hit on the early hours of tomorrow. We already have trees down today. Roads closed. Gale force winds. It's pouring with rain.

Just hope I can get home. I have to drive over marsh land only 1/4 mile inland. It will be a long drive if it not passable.
