After my first ever mug, I have decided I hate mulled wine >.< The evening was lovely, but I will not be repeating the festive tipple![/COLOR]2024 Challenges
Live in the moment more and appreciate the small things0 -
JJ - hope you medical treatment is working for you and doing its job. Take care of yourself. x
mkgirl - your room looks lovely.
freespirit - hope you are clear of the migraine. Thankfully I have never suffered from them (she says touching wood) but DH has and I know they can take quite a lot of you.
OrkneyStar - you are doing so well with your list.
Nanamia - your realise now we have let the cat out of the bag - not usually as busy on Christmas eve - this year everybody will decide to give it a try.We are going to see our friend today. Sounds as though the carers are coming in a couple of times a day and they are in the process of sorting the stairlift. She keeps telling everyone that she is not as weak as everyone is making out bless her. Enjoy breakfast, birthday celebration and the markets. x
Ruth - I'm sure the library ladies will love your hamper. They can alway have a biscuit with their lovely drinks. It will make a real change for them. I love Lady Grey tea. The ususal is Earl Grey or Redbush but we sometimes have Lady Grey for a change. It is so easy just to buy obvious things for pressies but sometimes it is nice to think out of the box. Enjoy your book - I think I have read some of her books in the past and really enjoyed them. I'm still trying to get through Philomena - enjoying it but by the time I settle down to read my eyes close. If you find the pause button - point me in the right direction.
I forgot to say I bought a couple of christmas ornaments yesterday - fairy and snowman - to go on my fireplace (I think). Well I had to have something new after having a big clear out of all the old stuff. Could have gone made - The Gift Company I think its called - lovely items and the prices I didn't think were too bad.
Sounds quite stormy here this morning. Popping to Mums first for a coffee with her, going to get some wire as the garage door has a problem and we cannot open it from the outside - so hopefully we can get something done with that. Then this afternoon we are visiting our elderly friends and calling at some others on the way back and told them if they have all their pressies we will wrap them for them. Haven't wrapped one of ours yet. :rotfl:
Take care and stay safe if you are out and about today.

mornig all
hugs and good wishes to those who need them
very wise words pigpen, i think sometimes you face something with your kids that makes you question how you will ever come through it BUT they do grow up and you adapt and things that once seemed irreparable can evolve into a relationship again and sometimes grow even stronger because of it. you wont forget the hurt BUT they are your kids so you get on with it. Thing about kids is you can love them without sometimes liking their behaviour.
thank you for asking about the craft fayre nanamia, to be honest it really was a waste of time, i spent about 6 months knitting and sewing was there about 5 hours and made about £9! luckily a neighbour had already bought 2 baby cardis off me and given me more than id asked so id already got £10 float from that but DH questioned why i bothered putting all that effort in. Theres another fayre at a local school friday night im tempted to try again but ill have to pay £10 for the table but i suppose if i dont try i wont sell anything.
local hairdresser has said i can put the flower brooches for the memorial garden in her shop and some of the bags id made if i want. which is really kind of her.
im having a wrapping and sorting session this morning, trying to get all the stuff that needs to go in the post done so i cant walk down to the post office this afty.
hugs all stay warm.SPC~12 ot 124

Ruth Calling Mrs Christmas is £3.50 on kindle app. Is it worth it? I did read a couple of Carole Matthews Christmas stories last year as recommended by the lovelies, and enjoyed them! X
Loving the sound of your hamper for the library ladies, I did a similar one for the nurses on the chemo suite when DH had finished his treatment a few years agoxxx
I'm only a few chapters in, but I think it's a good book. Do you have a library you can use? That's where I got my copy from. I think it's only available in hardback (and kindle) at the moment, which is probably why it's not really cheap. £3.50 isn't too bad, but there's so many Christmas books that I want to read, so I requested them through my library and I'm slowly working my way through the pile! Christmas at the cupcake cafe, a Nora Roberts one and two Scarlett Bailey ones to go...:)Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

No, she didn't come home. She did it 3 months after her 16th birthday.
I didn't tell her she could come home, it is a given, if they ever need me it is my job to be there. I have since told her if she wants to come home with her little boy she is more than welcome and we will sort something. She is now 19. They all think they are grown up, then they get to 20 and realise that in actual fact they are far from grown up and want to be 12 again. One of the harder parts for me is that he is 8 years older than her so it felt like child abuse and I was allowing my daughter to be with a paed. If it helps.. they are still together, but won't be forever.
I told my daughter I won't ever forgive her for putting me through that and have told my other daughter if she even thinks about doing the same she will be roast in her own juices and fed to the cat! I hate lying and deceit and sneakiness.. I don't do those things and I expect the same from others.
We do have a relationship now but it was hard to rebuild but I will not ever risk losing MY daughter over some random scratty male. I brought them into the world and loved and nurtured and provided for them for 16 years and that is something he can never do.
Time is a great healer and will smooth those great sore open wounds you have right now but I found it a long road and she needs to realise you are hurt but speaking to her now while you are feeling so fragile and angry and hurt and lost is not the time. Heal yourself, let her learn and speak about it when you are stronger.
((hugs))
Nana.. yes, we had to come home as my mother (awaiting a hip replacement) and I were incapable of walking further.. on a plus note Pixie went to bed at 7pm lol. I've had drugs so it is improved.. though my mouth is still incredibly sore though my throat feels better so hopefully that is mending.
No wrapping done today but I picked up a few bits while shopping.. gloves for DD1, leggings for DD2 and candy canes for my tree and I am NEVER EVER setting foot in Home Bargains again.. I don't know how people can shop in there it is hideous!!!
thanks for your wisdom. i have said to my daughter exactly the same as you. shes always welcome and i love her so much. its so raw and i feel like it will never get better. it will , i know it will and time will heal it. i think for us it is because it was so sudden.... we were playing board games and laughing as a family the night before and i didnt see it coming. i have bad days and good days and an awful lot of pretending and false smiles for my boy. he told me last night theres no point in ever going on holiday as he wont have anyone to play with, they were very close and she loved playing the same games as him spending 8 hours in the pool on holiday just messing about. i can never get it back. i see the father of the boyfriend who has let them live together around town and i just want to scream you have my beautiful daughter. they are so mucky and have no standards at all. in fact the dad has gone on holiday abroad so the two kids are alone in the house both 16. grrrr
thankyou again. its not that im looking for sympathy im just in the darkest place ever and still trying to make head or tail of it all.0 -
Thanks for the encouragement folks- I am glad I found this thread
.
We are being battered by winds up here today (with light snow too) so I think I will get more family cards written, and also get more of the knitting done. DS is at school though some people did keep their kids off due to the winds! Disco still on for later, but not sure we'll be venturing out AGAIN if this lasts! Hope everyone who is struggling is seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and it's great folk can come here and get a wee boost when they need it!
