Orkney star, your display looks lovely. Did you knit the nativity characters?

Mkgirl, I love the stars stuck to your wall. They look really effective. I may steal that idea ;)

No more xmas prep to report. Last night I started packing for our trip to London at the weekend, made some banana buns to use up some rather black bananas and then sat down and vegged. Oh, I did take home from work Hubby's pressies to hide. He's really intrigued as one pressie came in ahuge box. I didn't tell him it was mostly packaging ;)

Thanks. It is crochet, but with my knitting addiction you'd be making a good guess at knitting (and the resolution isn't good enough for the stitches to be seen!). I started Mary two years ago and finished the set last Christmas.

Huge hugs Wuvvies, Pigpen has given great advice, things will get better xx

Hope you are feeling better junior J x

Hope your Migraine shifted Freespirit x

Nanamia, I did go and buy some sensible pasta and tins of tomatoes, but some wine fell in my trolley too :D we have another couple of weeks to re scan, so will buy some winter stock and some goodies too. X

Well what a morning we have had. I live in SW Scotland, not far from the coast, it was blowing a hooly around 7am. It didnt get light til after 8:30 am! Then we noticed the 10ft new Trampoline was gone out the garden. It had blown over 2 gardens (3 x 6ft fences) and landed over the back on the banks of the burn. The surround and netting is wrecked.
My neighbour has offered her hubby's help to get it back over tonight, the kids are gutted when they noticed the empty space. We had pulled it right up between the house and the high fence, it must have been some sight taking off, but thankfully no one was hurt and no damage to anything else. Just upset as it cost £100 just a few months ago, and the kids adored it :(

It's still quite windy so will wait til later to go out and see what else is damaged my windows are manky where the wind was blowing all the dirt straight on to them.

I'm only a few chapters in, but I think it's a good book. Do you have a library you can use? That's where I got my copy from. I think it's only available in hardback (and kindle) at the moment, which is probably why it's not really cheap. £3.50 isn't too bad, but there's so many Christmas books that I want to read, so I requested them through my library and I'm slowly working my way through the pile! Christmas at the cupcake cafe, a Nora Roberts one and two Scarlett Bailey ones to go...:)

I've read this one and really enjoyed it. :)

thanks for your wisdom. i have said to my daughter exactly the same as you. shes always welcome and i love her so much. its so raw and i feel like it will never get better. it will , i know it will and time will heal it. i think for us it is because it was so sudden.... we were playing board games and laughing as a family the night before and i didnt see it coming. i have bad days and good days and an awful lot of pretending and false smiles for my boy. he told me last night theres no point in ever going on holiday as he wont have anyone to play with, they were very close and she loved playing the same games as him spending 8 hours in the pool on holiday just messing about. i can never get it back. i see the father of the boyfriend who has let them live together around town and i just want to scream you have my beautiful daughter. they are so mucky and have no standards at all. in fact the dad has gone on holiday abroad so the two kids are alone in the house both 16. grrrr
thankyou again. its not that im looking for sympathy im just in the darkest place ever and still trying to make head or tail of it all.

Sending hugs wuvvies. Your right - time can be a great healer even though you don't forget what has happened. It's sometimes hard to smile through the upset. They sometimes have to make their mistakes and it's a case of being there[STRIKE] [/STRIKE] when things go wrong.

  • Will catch up, but need to pick your brains!

Can anyone suggest something that I can quickly & easily make that can go in jars. Got to do about 20, am going to fill 1/2 of them with fudge, but some may prefer savoury type. Need for Monday evening, so only have the weekend to sort out :(
A smile costs little but creates much :)

  • Riskyb – wrapping buddies sounds good! Idid wrap a couple of presents last night. From memory I have never owned aChristmas jumper either! I suppose I might have had one when I was little but Idon’t remember one.

Hismissus – it’s only natural to worry aboutyour dad. Wishing him all the best for the chemo. I'm sorry to hear things don't look good so i'm wishing you lots of strength through this time.

Hope your dad is ok toochoccymoose.

Freespirit – well done on getting all of yourcards done! I am jealous as I had planned to be that organised by now but alasit hasn’t happened! I hope your head is feeling better now, nasty things! It really stops you doing anything.

Kiss_me_now sorry to hear you are so stressed, unfortunately that seems tohappen a lot at this time of year! Firstly, I agree with OMO, write lists! Getting things down on paper will help you thinkmore clearly. It doesn’t just have to be a list for presents either, you can doone for food/decorations etc. Just remember that everything doesn’t have to beperfect. If you are really struggling with OH just ask him outright, that wayit takes the pressure off you and he will get something he actually wants, youcould always buy a few little bits as surprises. Remember to take time out foryourself too – a nice bubble bath with candles or a Christmas film with somehot chocolate. It will all work itself out in the end. :)

Fevertotell sorry to hear you are feeling down, although I am not surprisedwith everything you are going through. I do hope you get some answers from yourtests and remember to look after yourself. x

OMO I don’tblame you stopping buying for your sisters 4. You’re right it doesn’t makesense to give each other’s money, I just hope she agrees with you!

Junior_j sorry to hear you’ve been through the wars again! I do hope you afeeling a bit better now. x

Nanamia – I hope you had a lovely time at the markets, sounds fabulous! :T

Feisty I don’t like mulled wine either! It’s funny because I enjoy a glassof red wine, but as soon as it’s heated up I can’t stand it! I have startedmaking mulled cider instead as an alternative.
  • Ugh, I was typing up responses in a Word doc as I went along so I didn't forget anything, but it keeps joining lots of my words together!

What about savoury nuts. I just paid 4 quid for these & when I go them realised I could make them myself for a fraction of the cost. Biscotti bites is another idea.
