Had the local news on in the car on the way home and can't believe the amount of people who are not leaving there homes. They have been made to sign a waver saying they know the risks of staying.

Yes thanks. Their parents picked them up after work. One girl has gone to stay with her aunt because her house is in the evacuated area.
I am so tired I could cry. An 8 mile drive that seemed to never end has done me in. The poor dog keeps looking at me, she doesn't understand it's not really safe out there. Although the wind has died down, there are bits of tree everywhere.
Apparently the flood could be worse than they first thought. The water is rising a lot quicker than expected. It is hitting Norfolk and Suffolk before us. So we will know by how bad it is there what to expect.
Part of the problem is (I think) that the media made such a big thing about the storm the other week, that a lot of people here don't believe anything they say about the weather anymore.0 -
Glad you are at home omo that must be awful driving in that weather. We we're put on red flood alert at 4pm after being told for the past couple of days it will pass us by. My mum lives on the main road and has told me that the council are out digging it up because there is trouble with the sewers and pumping station. Fingers crossed it is sorted before the first high tide at 1am0

Are you safe at home ?
I moved my old family pictures upstairs and we aren't even in the danger area.
Dd is staying at a friends tonight and has just seen the Army drive past.
I think it seems worst because it is happening overnight. Although they are now talking about the next 2 high tides due tomorrow.
God it must be bad. The BBC News channel are here. We never make the local news let alone the nation news.0 -

I hope so! We usually miss all the bad weather and I was not worried until it came on the local news and I then ventured onto the environment website. DS is starting to panic a tad and is trying to read up about tides. It doesn't help that we live on a smallish island, about 2 1/2 miles x 5 miles and he just showed me this quote : Being a seaside city, it is low-lying: the majority of its surface area is only about ten feet above sea level.
We too have put the important things up, just in case0 -
Our tree and decorations are up. :T
Little pic of DD at the local Xmas warehouse the other day.
Only got a couple of bits left to get but really can't afford to get any more until DH gets paid on 20th. Didn't want to be rushing round the weekend before the big day but looks like it will be inevitable.
On a plus note because we're actually both off work on Xmas Eve for the first time in years DH has booked us into a restaurant for our anniversary. It's a surprise where we're going so very excited! :TSavings Account - £0.00
