I only posted yesterday for the first time. I deal with all our finances and quite honestly have made a mess of it, I've been shuffling debts around for so long but I know I've got to face up to it and confront my dragons. My husband is blissful in his ignorance. I know I'm going to have to tell him but want to try and get a plan in place first, he has no head for figures at all and if I just blurt it out he won't be able to deal with it. I need to be able to do it calmly. Just being able to talk to and read about other peoples experiences makes it not such a lonely place.

It is the hardest thing I ever had to do but worth it, no more lies etc, which I posted when I startde this thread.

I think there are probably many more in the same situation

  • Our debt is my husbands, which came from his idea of budgeting - go to the cashpoint till it says no!!! - anyways it came to a head when our council tax bounced twice and the bailiffs got involved. I then realsied that I had to take control for the sake of our house etc.

I should give him more control of money but if he has it it burns a hole in his pocket. We do though try and talk it through, though but I do find it hard to let go!

I gave all cash control to my wife and it is working fine, if anything I am more cost conscious now than I ever was before

I told my husband in november. He thought we had £4,500.00 of debt but we actually had just under £10k. I was constantly crying and also had our3 rd baby. Went to walk out one day because of the pressure. Once I told him he was fantastic. He said not to blame myself and it was both our faults. He thought it was something more serious and was going to leave him. I just wish I told him before. We are now working on the payment and saving aswell. This is due to the fact he has now changed jobs and there is a little bit more every week to through against the debt.

I feel much happier and more spring in my step and not shouting at the children any more.

    All the best.

Told my OH this morning that I had made a mess of our finances and that we were in a lot of debt. Needless to say he was very angry especially as this isn't the first time I've done this. I feel awful, as if I've betrayed him. I think it would be easier if I'd been unfaithful to him. He wouldn't speak to me and has gone off, I only pray he comes back. In some strange way I feel a bit better for having told him but now I'm really worried about him. Sorry if this sounds as if I feel sorry for myself, truth be known I probably do at the moment, but at least I've faced up to the truth.
