I told mine and he was very supportive. He could see how upset it was making me and that i wanted to do something about it for once and for all! It wasnt easy, confessing never is! I am then going to save for my wedding.are you sitting comfortably?, then I'll begin.....

I'm in debt partly due to my ex
But I live with my Mum and I can't tell her the extent I'm in debt. Well that's a lie, she knows I owe about £5,000 on my car and a bit extra and she knows that this runs until 2010 (assuming I don't snowball)
It's the other £5,000 I seem to have trouble telling her about. I know she'll probably go mental and she has enough money worries of her own without me adding to it.
Although saying that, I have been really honest with my best friend and she know's everything and is really supportive. As I can meet my monthly payment and have an agreed overdraft it doesn't affect my life to heavily, but she was very understand when I told her I would be able to afford to go and see her so often!
But my Mother is the one I can't seem to manage!Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

I wonder if your wife is more upset that you kept it from her than the amount you owe...
My boyfriend racked up £35k worth of debt before we got together but has always been open with me so I have been nothing but supportive. He is now tackling it with help from the CCCS and I am really proud of him.

Hi Lucy
Difficult one, I also have not told my parents as it would hurt them too much, they have been through enough. I am finding it difficult as not always home (doing my second job) which they know nothing about but manageable.
My wife and I will sort this out together I hope, I just hope we can22/07/07 Debt - Tesco 17644 (6.1%) - Now 10500

My OH and I have been together over a year now and he didn't tell me about his debt until we'd been together about 6 months and the only reason he told me was because he had ran out of credit and therefore ran out of money. But I was so glad he told me, because I had just assumed he had loads of money because he has a good wage and therefore let him pay for meals out and buy me presents etc.. Anyway since he told me I showed him MSE and he put himself on a budget and we are both tackling our debts. The budget thing is hard for him becuase he has always just spent money without thinking about it and loves gadgets, but he is doing so well. We are moving in together soon and will share household expenses and of course will have a joint budget.Debts in April 07 = £12,547.61 Debts in Aug 08 = £0I'm debt free! my oh knows i am in debt but is anything but supportive. i told him about a year or so ago and he helped me to get a secured loan for 36k although i have to pay it all myself. worse mistake of my life as i now owe another 20-30k as payments keep going up.
at the moment the oh knows i have a lot of money troubles and he knows how much im doing to sort it but instead of helping me out. he makes comments such as 'all you ever think about is money' or 'you should have done something sooner' i totally regret telling him.
i have asked him to bt £130 off my card onto his as he owes me this amount and his are all 0% he says he cant afford to put more on his cards. he has 13ccs which is over 50k of credit and he owes £234!!
the lack of support from oh is harder for me to deal with than the debt.
I have spoke to him but as ive prob said before he says if he makes me feel bad about it i wont do it again.
