I have lamb shank in for tomorrow's tea...very simple mixture of 2 x lamb shanks, a bit of water, mint sauce and gravy granules plus a mixed dried herbs. Lamb "browned" in oil prior to adding to SC.

I plan to turn it on "LOW" tomorrow morning and return to deliciously cooked lamb shanks on my return from work!

    -wish me luck

You could do a pork joint in water or apple juice or cider along with some sliced apple. No need to completely cover the joint just a few cm of water/etc will do, shoudl come out nice and tender.

Opinion's divided as to whether to brown it first or just bung it in.

  • I did a lovely half leg of lamb yesterday. Just stuck it in there with a little lamb stock and some mint. Left it in all day and it fell apart - very little carving required!

  • Please remember if you are cooking pork in the SC it needs to go on high for a good few hours as pork can carry parasites and bacteria which need to be killed off.

Really?? I must admit that personally I have always just chucked the pork joint in the crockpot straight from the freezer and put on low or medium for the day and have never had any problems in all the years that I have been doing it this way. Now makes me wonder:eek: Thank you for the info:beer:
