Pea and Ham Soup in mine today - using half of the stock and some meat from yesterday's ham shank/hock, along with yellow split peas, lentils, sweated onion and three rubbery spring onions. Smells good! At least No.1 son though so when he called in half an hour ago - the aromas from my SC waft him here from 4 miles away :rotfl:!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Have got to share this lip-smacking, mouth-watering recipe with you all.
No approximate measurements, just bunged in what I felt was right.

    Diced red onion browned; four diced carrots which I just threw in; the water from last night's broccoli and green beans; one diced red pepper, browned with the onions; four cubed potatoes, just added to the dish; half a can of guinness; a generous squirt of tomato puree; one low-sodium organic vegetable stock cube; 500g organic cubed beef, prepared in flour, black pepper and paprika and gently browned; half a bag of left-over green beans, topped, tailed and chopped in half;

All then thrown in at 915, cooked on 'HIGH' until 1145 when I added my dumplings, served at 1230 ... absolutely delicious.
    That's Numberwang!

That sounds really lush, I am so hungry I always buy food in for tea but never have anything in for dinner.

So I am sat here belly grumbling eating prawn cocktail crisps, and stinging my ulcers in my mouth ouch lol.
 Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.

Got a packet of game casserole mix (mr s) in mine today with some beefy gravy. Been craving game for a while now (never had it before), which makes me odd.

    A huge vegetable curry!
    6 large carrots
    3 onions
    6 potatoes
    3 sticks celery
    1 jar korma sauce
    1 tin chopped tomatoes
red lentils to add near end of cooking to thicken sauce
    1 Yellow pepper
chopped all the veg and mixed with the chopped tomatoes and korma sauce, cooked for 7 hours on low, then threw in some red lentils and cooked for a further hour or until lentils were cooked.

should feed 2 adult, 2 teenage boys a 10yr old and a 3 year old, twice!!!
It's the start of the no takeaway challenge.
  • Got my beef stew today
half a tube of tomato puree (unless I tell people they never know it is in there - my secret ingredient)
    3 oxo cubes
2 pinches salt and black pepper
    cornflour
whatever bit of beef I found (usually the cheapest)
    large onion
    4 large carrots
    8 mushrooms
    2 tins new potatoes
and dumplings added an hour before serving

oh and water to cover of course
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p
  • Mutton stew this evening

    diced mutton
    onion
    2 carrots
    3 parsnip
    half pack of apricots
a few peppadew peppers for some bite
    lazy ginger and parsley
    bit of lamb stock
half a glass of red wine

I was a bit worried about how fatty the mutton looked going in, but was lovely.

Just put my SC on. It's only a small one for 2 people and I wish that at the time I'd got a larger one, but it was a present from MIL so I can't be too ungrateful!

    Beef stew/casserole:
    1/2lb stewing steak
    2 carrots
    1 onion
    mushrooms
    tin of chopped tomatoes
    glug of red wine
    salt & pepper

Fingers crossed....... It's on low so it SHOULD be ready by 6.30pm......
