Pea and Ham Soup in mine today - using half of the stock and some meat from yesterday's ham shank/hock, along with yellow split peas, lentils, sweated onion and three rubbery spring onions. Smells good! At least No.1 son though so when he called in half an hour ago - the aromas from my SC waft him here from 4 miles away :rotfl:!!0

Have got to share this lip-smacking, mouth-watering recipe with you all.
No approximate measurements, just bunged in what I felt was right.
Diced red onion browned; four diced carrots which I just threw in; the water from last night's broccoli and green beans; one diced red pepper, browned with the onions; four cubed potatoes, just added to the dish; half a can of guinness; a generous squirt of tomato puree; one low-sodium organic vegetable stock cube; 500g organic cubed beef, prepared in flour, black pepper and paprika and gently browned; half a bag of left-over green beans, topped, tailed and chopped in half;
All then thrown in at 915, cooked on 'HIGH' until 1145 when I added my dumplings, served at 1230 ... absolutely delicious. That's Numberwang!0 -

Got my beef stew today
half a tube of tomato puree (unless I tell people they never know it is in there - my secret ingredient)
3 oxo cubes
2 pinches salt and black pepper
cornflour
whatever bit of beef I found (usually the cheapest)
large onion
4 large carrots
8 mushrooms
2 tins new potatoes
and dumplings added an hour before serving
oh and water to cover of courseReal men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0 -
Mutton stew this evening
diced mutton
onion
2 carrots
3 parsnip
half pack of apricots
a few peppadew peppers for some bite
lazy ginger and parsley
bit of lamb stock
half a glass of red wine
I was a bit worried about how fatty the mutton looked going in, but was lovely.0 -
Just put my SC on. It's only a small one for 2 people and I wish that at the time I'd got a larger one, but it was a present from MIL so I can't be too ungrateful!

1 onion
