Chicken, mushrooms, leeks, celery, 2 bay leaves and a good glug of wine, added a chicken stock cube and a bit of water to thicken and smells divine.

Saw last night Sainsburys have a Breville 4.8ltr SC for £11.99 if its any good to anyone, this is cheaper than there own and a good ten quid cheaper than the next sized Breville which was only about a litre bigger.

Hi all, hoping someone here can help me - I want to do beef topside joint for xmas dinner (bought the other day, half price in tesco)

I have really small oven and a lot of food to cook, can I cook this in my SC and if so - how?

    Thanks

Yes you can. I frequently cook my beef joints in the slow cooker. I add a packet of gravy powder (the size of a soup sachet not a whole jar of bisto :rotfl:), and a packet of french onion soup and two cups of water then leave it on low for the whole day. You get a lovely melt in the mouth joint and lashings of fab gravy. mmmmmmmm deeeeelish!

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Maybe a stupid question - whatever you put is the SC - does not need to be covered in water/liqueid .. does it? Not like if you cook something normally I mean?

My lamb stew was fantastic (though next time I would add more pearly barley and lots more carrots) - I'm converted! And it was so nice to walk into the house to the smell of a yummy dinner :D

Planning on a sausage casserole and something with chicken thighs I've got in the freezer next week.

This really is a great thread - thanks to everyone who gave me inspiration.

just put some fresh apple slices, a few sultanas in slow cooker, and made up a typical mix; 2oz butter and 2oz sugar creamed, 4oz flour and an egg, put on top, a couple of sheets of kitchen roll between the lid, and hey presto a dee-lish apple and sultana sponge, served with custard - dee-lish :)

That sounds lovely, might give that a try soon, thanks.

I was really pleased with my first try with the chicken recently, it just fell off the bone. I was also surprised at the amount of gravy that it made too. Will deffo do that again! :D

I have a joint of gammon, some chopped celery, a pack of dried peas (soaked overnight) and 2 litres of stock.....hoping it turns into pea and ham soup for lunch and gammon for dinner.

I was reading the thread yesterday and seen that someone had cooked something similar recently and it was just what I fancied!
