sounds lovely, why the kitchen roll and where exactly do you put it? Sorry for daft question
I think what the OP is saying is she uses the kitchen roll to cushion the lid against the main pot, and make a more effective seal (but I may be wrong)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I was thinking the same reason, Raksha, and also maybe to prevent any condensation on the lid falling onto the sponge.

only just found this thread. i bought a SC last week from argos (its a morphy richards one was on offer for less than £20). Reason being i work until 6-7pm mon-fri and when i get home we dont eat well because im too tired to do anything and hubby cant (or wont?) cook. Made a gorgeous beef stew last week and today ive got braising beef steaks on a bed of winter veg. ive added salt, pepper, mixed herbs and an oxo cube to my liquid and it smells divine. hope it tastes as nice! bought some goose fat potatoes from morrisons (i know its a cheat but they were on offer too) so im looking forward to my tea!!

Depends. If it's veg or just beef, you *should* be okay. If it's pork or turkey mince, I'd be a bit wary, though again, it's *unlikely* that you'd have problems.0

it was just beef mince and ragu sauce as i had some mince left over that would have gone off so cooked it just to freeze it for a quickie mealMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
