  • :hello:Hi Everyone,

As you can see, I'm relatively new - I joined about 12mths ago but haven't posted much!

Reading these posts encouraged me to wipe the dust off the SC! Yesterday I made a chicken curry in it (I cheated using a jar I dug out from the back of the cupboard but needed to start simple for confidence)!! Anyway, I did a whole chicken overnight and the smell when I came downstairs (early - thanks little DS ;)) was just fantastic!

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions for the chicken that will be left over from todays lunch! Is it ok to reheat it in the SC or oven? I'm never sure with chicken and usually do sandwiches with the leftovers. You guys have inspired me to try something different - hopefully using the SC!

    thanks everso!

    Lala

Hi Lala, I would use caution reheating chicken. I would use it up on sandwiches and cold sliced with a jacket potatoe.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • Hi all :hello:

Another newbie who's been inspired to dust off my slow cooker here! I used to use it quite regularly but haven't for a while so I'm going to cheat today by using a jar of S & S sauce! Not very Sunday roast-like I know but going to be eaten later tonight, just DH & me, a romantic meal for 2 is much needed and overdue ;-) I've never used jars of sauce in it before, am I right in thinking I don't need to brown the chicken first but can just put it straight in?

    xx
  • hi all

in the previous reciepe the person said about boiling it all first! is it possible to just bung (sorry, skillfully place) it sraight in the sc?????

tryed spag bol (not the spag) on thursday, oh and dd loved it, by the time i had mine (after home from work) the sauce had dried up abd it tasted burnt!!!

I just threw (:rotfl:) it in without browning the chicken! The chicken was so tender, just yummy - think DH feared I was trying to take his title of Curry King! Had to come clean about the jar! Oh well!

    Enjoy!

How lonmg after they ate theirs did you have yours and what setting was it on?
I find for cleaning hot water and washing up liquid is OK and if that doesn't get it off then try switching it on with water and WUP liquid in it.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

For any dishes that are liquid/spattery I tend to brush all the inside of the SC with oil beforehand, it definitely makes the cleaning easier and doesn't affect flavour. Counterintuitively, when cooking a whole (dry) chicken it isn't necessary.

You may have more luck with hot water and bio washing powder but wash thoroughly after of course.
