I am so excited, just done my online shopping with Tesco and this week I am going to have beef in ale, sausage casserole, chicken curry and pork in cider and apple. I think I will have enough food for two weeks from all that because I live on my own. I am very excited, although upset their is no dinner tonight or tomorrow! boo!
I refuse to admit it is the time of the year to have stew! Althoough I do love it! Yummy.
I have chosen jacket potaotes, sweede and carrot mash, and chibatta as the side dishes for my meals, as I didnt want anything that involved to much seperate cooking. Yummy yummy, thanks for all the insiration. Maybe for my next shop I will get braver and buy some frozen meat. (that will be cheaper to buy, but needs defrosting before it goes in the cooker)Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
I'm sure I was a HUGE list of all the slow cooker recipes on here not so long ago but I can't find it, can anyone please help so I can keep it in my favs.

Champs, a sad loss. Did you drop the lid on the floor?
I don't serpose it was under the years warenty?
Oh, good thinking julie-d!! It may well be less than a year ago since I bought it, and I usually keep receipts. I will have a look straight away, you never know, that might just work. Yes, I did drop it on the floor........ was in a hurry tranferring the contents of the SC intoanother pot, while the lid gently slid off the worktop onto the tiled floor.
Thanks for the tip and I'll let you know if any luck."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Hi everyone :hello:. Ok. I have been shopping and bought a beef brisket joint (frozen) for £5. weight 900g.
The box says "beef brisket joint with mediterranean style stuffing.
Can I cook this in the SC. Defrosted. How much liquid or bisto do I add and how long do I cook it for on slow.
Also I bought a 1.16Kg gammon joint.£4.40 Same question again?
I have not tried joints in my SC yet!
Thanks for all replies JulieIf winter comes, can spring be far behind?

My mum and dad got me one of those £7 slow cookers from Asda as I had wanted one for a while and I am very excited about making all sorts of yummy things in it. It saves so much time in the evening to be able to have mots of your tea cooked by the time you get in from work!
Yesterday we had a chicken and veg cassarole/stew type thing. Today I am making bolognaise. I will do the spag. later when I get in.

Sometimes you can get spare parts (such as lids) from the manufacturer. A similar thing happened to me, but I ended up buying a new one, as my other was so old, and used to take ages to cook anything.0 -

Just put an inch or so of whatever liquid in the bottom when cooking the roast and you will be fine. I'm not sure about the stuffing though. I don't see why not, but the outside might be a bit soft. It might be worth sealing the joint briefly in a frying pan first, which although not necessary gives good results. All you can do is try it and see.0 -
