Will you tell us how it came out? and what you put in it?! :D I have lots of store cupboard ingredients like this! ;) Thanks!

    Sorry, only just saw this!

I just put in chopped onion, a tin of mixed beans, chopped tomatoes, a pinch of herbs, lots of chilli powder and some tomato puree. Oh, and a carrot that needed using! I also added some sliced potato towards the end of cooking. I'm trying to rack my brains and remember if I put garlic and a chilli in too, but I seem to be suffering from short term memory loss! :p

Usually i'd make more (almost added a tin of kidney beans too), but it was only for 2 meals. It was suprisingly nice and will probably make it again as have another tin of beans lurking.

Thanks Freakyogre! I 've never done a veg chilli, but will make one now, as the kids always seem to pick the beans out and eat those first, when I make one. :T

Venison (lump of, brought to me in a carrier bag by my dad, so I have no idea what part of the Bambi it's from!) with carrots, onions and red wine gravy.

I am off to the shops shortly so will be throwing some mushrooms in too when I return!

Took a bolognaise sauce out an hour ago (for the freezer) and about to put chicken cassarole in for tonights tea. I seem to go through phases of using/not using my slow cooker atm... maybe it's the weather  Anyways I'm going to have scan back through this thread and get some ideas other than the usual :o

I have two lamb shanks, onions, carrots, garlic and red wine vinegar. Any ideas as to how best to cook it in my slow cooker?

I am thinking brown the shanks in frying pan and sweat off chopped onion, carrots, garlic and celery with some butter. Add sweated veg to slow cooker, put lamb shanks on top, pour over about a cup of red wine vinegar (maybe some balsamic too) and chuck in a glass of red wine. How does that sound?
