I think I am going to try the Chicken Risotton recipe that was mentioned earlier in the thread for tea tonight. Might add a couple of extra ingredients - see what happens!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Still a tad nervous with my SC.Not sure if I'm supposed to add liquid in there somewhere or just the honey, onions, soy etc.
Sorry, I forget to check this thread. Thanks kidcat for posting the recipe link, I'm glad you liked them
The soy sauce/honey makes enough liquid for it, I was surprised how much of the sauce there was when I came home from work that night. I missed out the ginger because I don't like it but followed the rest of the recipe and it worked fineJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Will be doing a joint of beef in mine tomorrow. I'm thinking around 9 hours? Can I put the potatoes, carrots, etc in with the meat? We don't have the cooker working at the moment so no oven to do roast veg.

I skipped the ginger too, because I really dont like ginger and also didnt have any in anyway!
Not sure about the potatoes but you can put veg in I would think. I dont really use it for joints as I prefer to roast them, I would guess that boiling the potatoes for a few minutes first to soften them would be a good idea. YOu could try putting the veg in a seperate bowl inside the SC as someone suggested earlier? Depends on how big you r meat is and the size of your SC bowl though.0 -

Thanks, I suppose I could slice the potatoes like I did when I made my curry, that worked well...Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

I just followed the risotto recipe from earlier but it said it only needed to be on for 2 hours. I part cooked the chicken and the chunks were really small and I have just eaten it, but on one last piece there was a strange pink line - is there any way the chicken would not have been cooked through properly after 2 hours or is this just a sinewy bit?
Hopefully I haven't just poisoned my family!

In my slow cooker right now is soapy water
Before that was some rubber chicken found in the freezer, 2 onions =, a half bag of last week's Lidl salad potatoes and a 75p Sharwoods jar of Thai Green Curry. My Goodness what a nice dinner I had. Teamed it up with some Basmati rice boil in the bag I got for 70p at B&M a couple of weeks ago and a garlic naan. IMHO it was of carry out standard and it cost about a fifth of the price. Smashing!

I did a kind of lamb hotpot with sliced potatoes, carrots, onion, and 2 big barnsley chops on top above the liquid. Cooked all day in the SC, drained off the juices to make a gravy (or maybe it was a jus!), and transferred the food into a hot oven to crisp up. Was really delicious0
