Thanks I started to worry I might be poisoning my dinner guests
no no, dont listen to me! I would be too paranoid to do it myself - but i think a lot of it is to do with the way my Mum would have done things.

So no, do not worry at all! I maybe need to not worry so much really

    Thanks for the help everyone

NEWLYWED - i had a feeling that was the case, i just wasn't sure how direct the heat was on the bottom of the pot. You have confirmed my suspicions.

CHAMPYS - I hadn't thought about it that way round. you're right, it would be a lot cleaner. i just have to check that i have a bowl big enough for the filling.

Well yesterday I roasted duck and finally did the Syrup Sponge Recipe, I cut it down to half quantities and did it in a l pint pudding basin and served with home made custard.

If you are looking for good slow cooker recipe books, the cheap book shops often have them. Sara Lewis Easy Slowcooker has a variety of recipes and Catherine Atkinson are good.

Still a tad nervous with my SC. :o Not sure if I'm supposed to add liquid in there somewhere or just the honey, onions, soy etc.

I did a huge bowl of spaghetti bolognaise yesterday in the slow cooker which I then divided up; half to go in freezer, 1/3 of other 1/2 for DS2 for spag bol and 2/3 for me and hubby to go into stuffed cabbage leaves which I covered with a cheese and nutmeg sauce ... absolutely GORGEOUS!

  • Beef casserole today, one batch for a steak pie and other batches for the freezer.

Might have to invest in another sc as do most of my cooking at the weekend.

Have a big pot of lentil soup on the cooker, had planned to do chicken and leek in sc today but that will just have to wait until tomorrow :p
