I have a whole plain chicken- plain due to fusey children and mother in law who is coming to tea.
BUT I have put it in a roasting bag-cause my sister always does, never tried it myself, so will let you know how I get on, Always just threw it it before!
Hope it is not too yummy as need left overs for another meal!0 -
Christina F you were looking for a risotto recipe for the sc. This recipe is in the book that came with my sc but I have never tried it.
1tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion chopped
175g chopped bacon
350g cooked chicken, cut into small pieces
400g tin of chopped tomatoes
1 green pepper, deseeded and diced
75g button mushrooms, sliced
1tsp mixed herbs
550ml chicken stock
1 bay leaf
Salt & Pepper to taste
175g easy cook long grain rice
Heat oil in large, non-stick pan. Add the onion, bacon and chicken and fry lightly.
Stir in the tomatoes, pepper, mushrooms, herbs, stock, bay leaf and seasoning. Bring to the boil.
Transfer to SC and stir in the rice. Cook on low for approimately two hours.
Good luck, let me know if it is a success.;):grouphug:0 -

Am inspired by the success of the rice pudding above so am going to use the remainder in the box to make some. Will buy some Carnation milk to go with it later.

Today I'm trying a meat joint for the first time, very nervous but very excited too (sad huh ), I've got a half leg of lamb, chucked in some veggies and some stock because I didn't feel brave enough to put it in by itself. Not sure how long to cook it for though, I usually use the low setting but as I got up so late  it's gonna have to go on medium and then it'll probably have about 8 hours, that's enough isn't it?
I also think the rice pudding sounds amazing, definately gonna try that in the weekDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
