Joint of beef, carrots, onion, potatoes thinly sliced with skin on. I love the smells coming from my kitchen right now:D. Going to scoop the veg out and roast in the oven later along with yorkshire puds, never tried doing that before so i hope they don't go too mushy:eek: and it works.
:pwould like to make it known it is not a DHN, she's dancing :p

    Chicken wings?

Yep, they were dead cheap so thought I'd give this recipe a try:

  • Melonade you were looking for the recipe here is the one I am trying:

    http://www.icdiet.co.uk/recipes/deserts/desert3.html

I have not tried this before, I am relatively to sc cooking. I hope it turns out ok.

Thank you, we are just having a mince hot pot with cobbler topping then the pudding.

It is really miserable here, we have just finished the last of the curried carrot & turnip soup, so I think I will make a big pot of lentil soup for the family :A

    Part of the Furniture
In my slow cooker yesterday was barley (a handful), onions, leeks, parsnip, celery, sweetcorn some finely chopped bacon, 3 chicken drumsticks, random herbs and a can of chicken soup.

I cooked it for 6 hours on auto then drained it with a slotted spoon, put it in a casserole dish, covered it with thinly sliced spuds, mixed some cream and garlic into the juices in the slow cooker and poured this over the spuds.

I covered it in tinfoil and baked it at 200C for 35 minutes, finishing it off under the grill with some grated cheese.

It was really tasty and gave 2 portions for dinner and 2 for the freezer.

I'm not keen on the glutinous texture the barley gives to slow cooker meals though, I think I'll be sticking with my lentils instead.

Yay! I got a slow cooker yesterday for my birthday from my mum!

Can't wait to use it - I think I am going to try the Coq au vin recipe that came with it for tomorrow's tea.
