Cheaper steaks of pork - kind of marbled. Onion, carrots, mushrooms, casserole mix and tin of campbells soup. Turned out lovely.

I've not used my slow cooker in a while but today have a lasagne in it which will do us and our friends tonight and probably about 3 more meals for the freezer - I think I got carried away what I was putting in it!
I hope it turns out ok as kind of guessed it all!

Picked up a slow cooker - local recycling centre for £1 - Bargain! I have done several casserole/stew type things in it, just fridge stews really. I have a ham, which I usually boil on the hob - can I cook this in the slow cooker instead?

Help from all you wonderful experts would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can do ham in your slow cooker. Others have cooked them in coke and other wonderful concoctions. I did my ham shank in water (after soaking it overnight first) and cooked it on low for about 7 hours. Then I made stock from the bone once I'd shredded the meat off it.

You can try cider or apple juice instead of water too!

Here is the Chutney Recipe I was talking about yesterday. As I was trying to use up bits I used mixed dried fruit salad for the Apricots so the chutney was a bit drier at the 2 Hour mark and did not need further cooking. In the future I would leave out the Orange. I didn't like the taste. This made about 3 - 4 small jars. So long as the fruit, sugar and vinegar are kept the same I think you should be able to vary spices and fruit to whatever you have.

    Apricot and Date Chutney

225g Apricots cut into chunks ( I used mixed dried Fruits)
    150g Dates cut into chunks
    250g Sugar
150ml Cider or Wine vinegar (or probably any vinegar)
    1 Orange (juice + zest)
    25g Ginger Peeled and chopped
    1 Red Chilli
    1/4 tsp salt
    3 tsp Lemon Juice

Place all ingredient apart from the Lemon Juice in slow cooker on High
Cook with the Lid on for 2 hours, stirring frequently in 1 Hour to disolve the sugar and prevent sticking
Check at about 2 Hours to see if thick and sticky if not take lid off and 30-40 mins.

Stir in Lemon Juice at end of cooking.

Pour into armed preserving jar with an air tight lid or jar with cover. Don't lids with metal undersides as the vinegar will corrode them.

I cover the chutney with greaseproof.
