I'm christening my slow cooker today. Using the chilli recipe that came with the machine but using veggie mince instead of beef mince. It was a bit simple with only chilli powder blueberrypie yours sounds much nicer.

I did chicken creole recently. Mix tbsn flour with some paprika. Toss chicken legs in it. Melt butter in pan and brown off the chicken legs.

Put chicken into slowcooker. Chop onion, red and green pepper and celery stick and add to frying pan. Fry still slightly softened, but not brown.

Add to the onions, half pint chicken stock, tin chopped tomatoes, tabasco sauce to taste (I didn't have that so added worcester sauce and a pinch of chilli). Bring to boil and tip over chicken. Cook.

    Think that was everything....

I followed this recipe too (it's a great book, isn't it! The curry recipes are fab). It was nice, but I found the guiness a bit overpowering. The next time I tried it, I used half the amount of guiness with half beef stock and it was much better.

Sorry, I know this is a bit late for you now :o

ahhh thanks! I had already put them on but i will bookmark chicken creole for later - thanks.

I put the drumsticks in with a small amount of liquid. I took as much skin as i could off them (while gagging). Chicken really smells unpleasant raw, i dont know how you are supposed to know if its ok.
Anyway, first time leaving overnight with out loads of liquid. Will be on from 11 to 930 tomo morn on low - any chance the liquid could run out? Knowing me ill be waking in the night wondering if its dried out and something bad happens.

  • Hi, first post on here, wonder if anyone can help....made a chicken and chorizo casserole in the SC yesterday, was very nice , however the chorizo was very chewy, I fried it off first, so any ideas as to avoid chewy chorizo! TIA
