Please, think of the children. They are probably starving.0

£6.49 available? That's enough for pasta (under £1 a bag) pasta sauce (Smart Price sauce is about 30p a jar) and even a couple of garlic baguettes to go with it for about 50p each.
Or a couple of smart price ready meal's (cottage pie, beef and dumplings, curry, lasagne, all under £1 each)
A loaf of bread or a bag of baking potatoes (£1 either way), some smart price beans (under 50p a tin) and some cheese (£2 a block) for another meal idea.
Or a bag of potatoes to make into mash or chips (£1) some sausages (£1) beans (<50p a tin)
Not the healthiest of options, but all quick, cheap and easy.
If the children went hungry, it wasn't Asda's fault. Whilst they did inconvenience you, you ultimately had enough left to feed a family.0 -
If children went hungry then OP is clearly not managing storecupboards either. What kind of a person has totally empty cupboards and fridge?Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Why didn't you just get £10 out of a cashpoint (probably outside Asda)?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

I used to have empty cupboards many years ago because I was only able to buy from week to week. I had no fridge either. I was very careful and got enough coins for the week for the electric meter and set aside a weekly amount to pay for the rent and utilities.
Everything was really tightly controlled but I budgeted for everything - by the Sunday night I did put the last coin in the meter and often only had salt left in the cupboards, but the children would have been well fed before they went to bed.
I never once failed to pay a bill, it was a very difficult time in my life but I managed to get through it by being extremely careful and budgeting to the last penny. Not Rachmaninov

If the op was going to use that money for food why was the only thing bought at the supermarket some tic tacs? That's what doesn't make sense to me.
I will give genuine advice though - contact the bank. They will be able to tell you how long til the funds are available. It sounds to me like money was simply authorised to come out (so it appears it has left the account to you and your bank) but it will go back into your account in a few days because it was never actually charged (thus never made it to Asda's account)
It sounds like an error with Asda's system or the card reader or maybe the cashier made a mistake. Either way you will get it back in a few days and if you are concerned speak to your bank who should be able to confirm what I've said. I'd just wait if I were you though - the bank can't speed it up, only tell you what happened in the first place.
And it is probably a good idea to keep some cheap food in the cupboard for an emergency situation. 12p noodles FTW!Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. I'd certainly question their tactics.0
