Went to asda to get a tenner cashback. bank acct in credit by £17.45 made one purchase of tictacs 40p plus tenner cashback. entered my pin but transaction subsequently failed. tried at 2nd terminal card issuer denied payment but asda had managed to debit another 40p from my acct. Checked balance with bank now had 6.49 available balance exactly 10.80 less than when i had walked through the door. Various locations given for where my tenner was most confusingly "in limbo" told 3-4 working days for tenner to be recredited to my acct. was actually after much travail put back less then 24 hours later. Who the hell has got my money in this instance and is it relly in LIMBO. kids went hungry that nite and now i'm forced to shop at tesco's !"!!!!!!!

You are responsible for not managing your money better.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Only having £17 left in the bank account to feed a family is not responsible so personally I agree they need to manage their money better.Thinking critically since 1996....0

You may not be able to manage; other people can and do.0 -
People have very different circumstances. We have no idea what the original poster had spent their money on this month. Maybe they're spent it on cigarettes, alcohol and betting, but maybe they've managed their money perfectly well and have sadly had some expenses beyond their control.
It occurs to me that having 17 pounds to feed a family until, for example, a payment comes in the next day, is entirely reasonable.
The poster mentioned that the money had been refunded, so all is well. In terms of who was to blame, I'd query this with Asda in a polite way. They might be able to check what happened and give a gift voucher of a few pounds. Asda wouldn't want this happening to any customer, whether it be 10 pounds or someone having their card declined for 100 pounds and the money still going out.0 -

Why buy the tic tacs then? You could have bought a loaf of bread (whoopsied, possibly) and shared it.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

There are alot of people who live on very low incomes, the OP had what they had and no one has the right to comment on their money management skills. There are plenty out there with lots of cash who don't feed their families properly.0
