My word! Just been reading through this thread and I can only say, I haven't been affected one iota. Indeed, we've never had a problem with our CC account. In fact, only last week did we again exchange £58 worth of vouchers for joint RAC cover (as we did last year saving a significant amount of money). I've just come back from a bit of food shopping at Tesco too and used two vouchers for their face value, but only because they were due to expire soon and I thought better off getting rid now.

Me and the Missus don't shop anywhere near as much at Tesco as we used to, but it is still good to get the vouchers. As well as massively reduced breakdown cover with the RAC, we've had a luxury weekend away at a top hotel through voucher exchanges. I'm still amazed though how people can 'forget' they've either got them/had them and end up losing them that way. As for the fraud side of things, well I can only sympathise and hope Tesco and the police sort it and find out who the culprits are.

Like a couple of other people on the thread, I lost just a small amount, and assumed it was someone intercepting my post.

I have 2 clubcard accounts, one normal one and one attached to my credit card.

The £5 voucher from one account that I should have received in the post in Aug/Sept was spent on 12 September in a store that is reasonably local to here but that I haven't been to in years. I phoned up in November about this one and Tesco have re-credited my points.

The £5.50 off my other account that again I never received in the post apparently first of all in October someone started to redeem against some clubcard deals, but didn't actually go through with the order. I phoned up in early November to ask for those to be cancelled and re-issued, but obviously they didn't. In later November the same £5.50 voucher was actually used apparently against a Tesco Direct order. I phoned up again in January to ask for the points to be re-credited, and they haven't as yet (I've just checked).

None of my other vouchers have been touched though (I have £50 or so going back 2 years) so I still think mine is more likely to the post rather than anyone hacking into my account.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

Following an identity theft issue last year, I switched all my utility bills and bank statements to online only, including Tesco CC vouchers/coupons. I even contacted the Royal Mail and asked them to confirm via their Security Team that no one had set up a Post Office Box account in my name. Thankfully, no one had done so. Worth doing if you think you have a mail theft/unauthorised mail redirection issue.
  • I noticed £185 of vouchers had been used on 7th Feb when I logged into my club card account on the 9th. Phoned Tesco the next day and they advised the vouchers had been spent in a London store. As I live in Plymouth there was no possibility I was responsible so they immediately credited my account with the points lost (they won't be available as vouchers till next statement though). I work in a very security conscious industry, absolutely no possibility my account was compromised by me or via my PC. I never use links in emails because of the phishing risk. I to am convinced this is likely to be an inside job because of the scale of the losses. Also worth noting my vouchers were issued over 5 different statements yet not all were taken which would suggest they did not actually access my online account?

I am one of those who have "lost" vouchers and now had them returned, to be credited on the May statement. Good news you may say but....we intended to use the Cosmos 4 x value offer (normally only 3 x) which ends 28 Feb so effectively Tesco have lost me the offer. I think we should all make a case for immediate credit of vouchers NOW, not when they think they should. Why should we missout on offers, or the ability to spend them now, simply because of thefts from their system, probably by an insider.

This would be the next logical challenge and would probably succeed with the weight of MSE championing the cause.

MSE, can you help further please?

I would love to have my vouchers credited - still being accused of lying; sent evidence to Tesco as required on Tuesday and am now being told if I sent it they imagine it will be being investigated...

Points get converted into vouchers at fixed times in the year i.e. Feb., May, August and November. Vouchers that have been redeemed, can not be reactivated(unlike vouchers that are in 'processing').
Whilst there maybe a 'deal' you like at the moment there may be a similar 'deal' in the not too distant furture.
Tesco CC do not see the full code of vouchers until they are redeemed, so don't see how it can be an 'insider job'.

It would be interesting to see if there is any other common thread here with those affected!
Are you using your 'IP' email address e.g. BT, Sky, or Virgin; or are you using someone like yahoo !?
Heard of someone who was almost scammed - 28th Jan., but transaction didn't go through - later they had noticed the yahoo email address had changed for a short time to a different yahoo name - made me wonder!

Just because vouchers are used elsewhere - it doesn't eliminate the possibilty that that occured with your permission! For example, you may have a son/daughter in Uni who you sent the vchrs to - who has a key fob.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

I don't really see the point of much of this.
I know there are people in exactly the same situation; I have corresponded with them. There are also people who have had their accounts hacked. To the best of my knowledge I have not, unless someone changed details and then changed them back again.
You say you don't see how it can be an insider job - I don't see how it can't be an insider job. Maybe not in CC themselves, more likely to be in IT. Front line CC customer support only have access to a limited amount of information, but higher up the food chain they can find out more and drill down into transactions/voucher issues etc.
The CC which was used was one which I have never used; it and its associated keyfobs are still attached to the letter in which they were sent to me. In addition, I still have all the original vouchers.
Information has all been sent, as requested, to Tesco in Dundee; they received it on Wednesday but have had no contact with me since. I rang to chase yesterday morning and was told they would get back to me, but nobody has.
    Don't bother to defend them.
  • HJD I totally agree.

Catman.....sorry, didn't appreciate your comments. We are having enough trouble with Tesco saying "we" have used the vouchers, including wayward family members, without one of us forum members suggesting that too. Surely you can see, from the overwhelming commonality of the losses, that it IS NOT US, it is Tesco, probably from within.
