Mum hit by car at petrol station

Was she watching for traffic?
I have lost count of the number of times I have had to brake for folk that just fill up and head for the kiosk.0 -
You were not there as was not the OP...and now you've brought a child into it...WHY!
Oh for God's sake, are you just looking to have a go at someone?
I was commenting, as are others on this thread, based on what the OP has told us. To my knowledge, none of us were there! I was commenting on the poor driving of the guy who hit her mother (I do hope you can at least recognise that hitting someone with a car IS poor driving!)
FYI, when idiots like that one are behind the wheel of a car it is usually some poor bloody innocent who gets hit/injured. THAT'S WHY I MENTiONED A CHILD!!!!0 -
I know mum doesn't seem fussed, but how would she feel if she saw on the news the same fella/car had knocked a child down and killed them due to 'tiredness' as it wasn't nipped in the bud from the early warning sign of this incident. Maybe the Police etc would just give him a telling off, but it might be a spark of realisation for him.
THANK YOU. Maybe A certain poster will get the message now!0 -

You seem to be making the assumption that it's always the driver's fault?
It isn't, and we don't know if that was the case here.0 -

She has reported it and a very sympathetic policeman that took the details says it is a very serious incident and she did the right thing. He is sending someone to interview her this afternoon and the matter is being looked into with the Garage too, he was appalled and thinks there is more to it than meets the eye (I presume he means drink or drugs).
Very serious..of course it's...?0 -
Ok, fair enough. I just wanted to test the water having not dealt with anything like this before. I am not looking to get anything out of this for her but just wanted to cover her in case something happened later down the line and we are told it should have been reported. It's the fact that he was driving too fast in the forecourt. What if it had been on the pavement ? Different story then. He gave her his details.
At this time year, it is more likely that he had too much Christmas cheer at the office party. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
She is 67. She survived a parachute jump in 1978 when she broke her leg in 2 places. she has had her fair share of knocks. She is fine this morning. Just a small bruise. My sister who lives with her is keeping a eye on her.
What gets me is the guy behind the Esso till showing no concern. That is something I feel I would like to chase up.
I don't understand, you would be more concerned about chasing up a disinterested petrol station employee than the man who very nearly killed your mother? :eek:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Can I report it to the police on behalf of her ?
Yes, you can. Will the insurance company cover an incident at a petrol station ?
Yes, it will. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
