That's good to know, I'll have a word with my solicitor and see if this is possible!
Thanks for the link... Though phoning the police seems a little harsh... Maybe I'm too nice :S0 -

I can see their point, I really can, I do feel bad about it.
You have absolutely no reason to feel bad about it - they're pushing their luck and they know it.
If they're stupid enough to choose a removal company that charges by the hour that's their own silly faults. Not yours. And they should have factored that into their removal costs during the planning stage.
Absolutely not your problem. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
At what time the next day will they move, 9:00 am?, 1:00 pm? 4:00 pm? 8:00 pm? oh well it's after 8 we'll just stay another night.
You are in the position of power in the chain you have the money that they are all after.0 -

And I would be making sure my solicitor told them this (perhaps not verbatim, but closely)0 -
They must be paying a man 'n' van or something - not your problem. Removal men don't (usually) charge by the hour. I've used enough in my time and they spend all morning packing the van, usually hang around or disappear for lunch, then drive to wherever.
I wouldn't be having conversations direct, I'd just go through solicitors. If they try to contact you, or if you need to see the property, I would be asking the EA to be present for the viewing, or just saying to the vendor that what they're proposing is against the law and that they obviously aren't hearing what you're saying, so all future conversations must be via your solicitor. There - problem solved.
I hope your solicitor has approached theirs with this info. You said they were letting them know at exchange - too late IMO. They should tell them now so this can be sorted.

Things are not going so good
there are 12 outstanding enquires on the property that my solicitor feels needs to be answered, fair enough I'm happy with that.
Well vendor no longer likes my "2 bit internet solicitors who don't know what they are doing.. not like their professional ones."
This is because my solicitors "keep asking questions"... Um OK... "They wont take my word for things and want things in writing".. Again OK...
They even had their solicitor phone mine to say they were not going to answer the questions and that their word should be enough. My solicitor bless her said well if you make a recording to that effect and sign to say that it is you then fine, their solicitor said no..
Am I right in thinking something seems dodgy? Are things being stupidly delayed... My vendor is implying they will be pulling out over this now...0 -
Phoned the Estate Agent and say that unless the vendor and solicitor respond to the enquiries then you are pulling out. Give them to the end of the week.
And whilst you're waiting start looking elsewhere...0 -
Yeah, the vendor said answering enqires will take upto 6 weeks..
I really like the house but there are loads of other houses out there.. Im back to right move just incase the worst happens.. :mad:0 -
What are the enquiries they are refusing to answer? I'd be concerned that they are lying about something. There is no other reason why they can't answer in writing through the solicitors.0

When I purchased a house, the vendor was very cagey about some questions, led to me taking out indemnity insurance but hey ho.
6 weeks to answer questions ? You aren't asking for a novel.
What questions are you asking ? At the end of the day as others have said give them a deadline to answer the questions and just remember that whatever happens when you do move in to your new home whichever it is will be the right one.Nice to save.0
